Multi-channel audio using HDMI pass through

Hi, I have some FLAC files which are encoded 5.1 channel and I’m using the Rose 150B with HDMI pass through turned on. I am only getting two channel stereo using the HDMI to my receiver.
Is there a setting I need to adjust to have the Rose 150B pass the multi channel audio to my receiver?
Or does multi channel HDMI pass through only work with certain file types?

Hello,

Please check if VLC player is turned off.
RS150B > Video > Setup > User VLC Player > OFF

VLC player helps you to play videos with more codecs, but it always down-mix to two channels.

Thank you for the quick response, I have confirmed that VLC player is OFF, I can still only get two channel playback. is there anything else can I try?

Same Problem
I have the 150b for 6 month and Never get the Multichannel running. No Flac, no DSD, nothing
I think it is a Handshake Issue HDMI, but Rose doesnt care

I posted about this a year ago (Sept '22) under title “HDMI Out w/Passthrough”, with no response. I could not get multichannel to work so I assumed the implementation is broken. Fortunately, Roon Nucleus/Roon software solves this (except for Atmos) and the myriad other RoseHiFi software issues like improper DB sorting (artist/album), improper language/grammar translations, etc. which still have not been properly addressed.

I’m apologize that I missed the word “FLAC” in the post. HIFIROSE streamer audio is for two channels only. The only multi-channel bypass to AV receiver is when you play video in ROSE streamer, not even the video from TV.
HIFIROSE streamers support two channels for audio.

Dont want a refund, there is no better streamer on the market

I want Rose to improve the 150b

  • Multichannel as bitperfect on HDMI, my Sony Blu-Ray and my Raspberry can do it
  • also the Infrarot Remote Controll, as spoken manny times before
