Music Database......?!?!?!?

Hi guys,
I changed my playlist because the file system (Rose) is NOT the best for me. I edit my music in the playlists in Apple Music. Everything was entered properly…artist to artist, title to title and album to album. But then I had the problem that I only ever saw the title names in the Rose app and when accessing my built-in SSD in the Rose 520 over the network. Now I’ve spent days adapting my playlists to the Rose. Quite a lot of effort for a €3600 device. But music is my hobby!

Now in the music app in the information (tags) of the title, in the “Title” line I also have “Artist - Title” and where the artist is actually entered I copied the album. Now I can also see the artists in the app and on my computer when I access my SSD over the network. Now the actual “title entry” is artist and title. Maybe I’m a bit stupid, but it works well for me. If anyone also uses Apple Music (no subscription) and has a better solution, please write here.

A little info for my special friend⬇️ See your pictures.

@joyofmvid

If you do it like I did, the actual artist at the bottom becomes the “album”.

@joyofmvid:
The title at the top pops briefly and continues. The artist (in my case the album) is abbreviated at the end.

You asked the question!

The Rose 520 doesn’t recognize umlauts in your own music. Only cryptic characters appear. I had to change all Ä, Ü,… to Ae, Ue in the German titles. I often have to do this with the radio stream too. The Rose team has been informed.

Look at the pictures.:arrow_down:

This is a great idea. I’ll definitely consider doing the same. I like the outcome. :heavy_check_mark:

Hi @Bonte
Umlaute funktionieren nicht so richtig.

New Applemusic App:
Die Tags die dort stehen, scheinen nicht korrekt zu sein.

Titel = I was made for Loving you
Künstler = Kiss
Album = I Was Made For Lovin’ You

Die manuellen oder automatischen Infos hole ich von Discogs.
https://www.discogs.com/de/release/439913-Kiss-I-Was-Made-For-Lovin-You

My site is also available in EN.

Hi aswiss,

thanks aswiss for your info. Of course I also use MP3 tags for the amount of songs and I also get my information about the song from Discogs. But I still recorded digital music back then with a DAT recorder and there are a lot of mixed DJ mixes from the DJ I knew at the time. (We had a disco at our place) and I asked him when they were there and calibrating the disco system if I could come with my DAT and copy something over. He said yes…and I was totally happy.

With things like that, I have to improvise with the tags.

Thanks for the insight into your music database. I’m always ready for suggestions and improvements and will certainly implement some of them.

Sorry about Kiss:
The tags were made before the time of Discogs. The internet wasn’t what it is today. But the cover image isn’t wrong! It’s a maxi-single from Phonogram (German pressing…see link…still available today) and I made a digital copy of the record on my DAT. I’m German after all. It all brings back old memories (women’s & music…it’s a shame you don’t get young again)

I changed it right away!

but I’m leaving R.P.M. because in German they are abbreviations and they end with a dot.

For example:

Nr. = number
a. E. = at the end
a. A. = other opinion
and so on…

:wink::v:t2:

With every value you add into your file - the player, or DB needs be able to read it.
But usually, a 12" as a 7" are 45 RPM - and in the digital world, RPM make no sense anyway. RPM is for Vinyl only.

What I mentioned regarding your screenshot is this:

I use ROON for all my digital music. i know, its not cheap, and you will need an extra device to run the Roon Server.
On the other hand, it is independent from any players database capabilities. And it extends your music with more information, without the need to do it manually.

I just have some playlists, so I’m not that much in this sort of stuff.

And a while ago, I sorted all my MP3 Files out of my library, except for some DJ Mixes I created my self. But they are not tagged with a CUE Sheet, containing each track individually, as this is a lot of work, to split a 90 mins Track into 40 mixed Tracks. Reason why I stopped was, that some players I had were not able to play gapless, which is a need to listen to a continous mix.

and with the abreviated text - there is a feature to enable, that scrolls text, if I remember correctly.

Hello aswiss,

I understand you!..and I know that it’s actually wrong. But at the moment with the Rose it’s the best solution for me to also see the artist.
:arrow_up:Didn’t you read the first post above?:arrow_up:

I don’t use Roon and other expensive streaming services (Tidal…Spotify…)

When I enter the artist in Artists, whether in mp3.tag / Apple Music), I only ever see the title, whether in the Rose app or by accessing my SSD in the Rose 520 via my network. That’s why I changed everything in my music database. I already looked into Roon extensively when it was launched. It’s really too expensive for me. I have to earn a lot of money to be able to pay for everything these days. Then there’s TV streaming and of course paying for internet and electricity. I have Amazon Prime, AppleTV+, Netflix, Disney and MagentaTV + Internet and everything has to be powered. Do you know how much all of that costs per month??? I just spent 3.6K on the Rose and I still have a life.:wink:

I only enter the RPM (now without points) in “MY” database so that I can remember when I was young, how, at what speed and from what (e.g. record) I recorded the song.

Thank you for answering me.:muscle:t2:

Sorry for the expression, unfortunately I can only work with a translator.

:v:t2:

I take my hat off and bow,

but there are universes between your system and my wallet.

Absolutely bombastic.:clap:t2::clap:t2::clap:t2::kissing_heart::muscle:t2:

@Bonte Thank you very much.
It was a long journey and at the end, also not as cheap as planned. But that’s how it is, and I’m really happy with my setup.

I’m not jealous but I envy you.

As I said, it’s light years for me.

Keep chatting… there are plenty of people who can learn something from you too.

PS:

Edit the post for setting up the VU meters. The context menu opens in the app and not all VU meters are visible at the same time. I have to scroll to see the last ones. In the MacOs app (I have a MacbookPro M3Pro in full view) the context menu works, if I open it up to C - style then I have to scroll.

But it could also be due to my Macbook display resolution.
I changed the display resolution a little. 16" and standard resolution is too small for my eyes.

Have a nice evening and I’ll let my ears run hot with your awesome system.

:loud_sound::ear:t2::loud_sound::ear:t2:

:v:t2:

Edit:
So you have to scroll in the context menu even with the standard display setting (Macbook M3Pro)

I thought Rose folks stated they dont support Apple… encourage me with this… I can see in Rose 250 only every title/artist that begins with A, nothing else. I have no time or skills for tedious database work… and have basically rejected Apple and gone to Tidal and Qobuz.
