Whether hooked up to my Denafrips or not. The music on the screen does not start. Just the spinning wheel goes forever. When I try Roon, it just burns through a bunch of song titles in a row before giving up worth “too many attempts.” Again, the behavior is the same whether the cable is plugged into the dac or not.
Please check a few things.
- Does your RS130 play music normally with other connections besides i2S?
- Is your RS130 connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet normally?
- Please take a picture of the System info screen on your RS130 and show it to me.
RS130–>Settings–>System info
Usb works.
Ethernet fiber optic
I’m away until Friday. I’ll send pics then.
I don’t understand. Please reiterate.
Please check a few things.
- Are all the audio sources on your RS130 not playing?
- Do you still experience the same symptoms after factory resetting your RS130?
RS130–>Settings–>System settings–>Factory reset
USB out works. I’ll try the reset tomorrow.
No luck. Does it need to be nearby?
- Would you try to connect your ROSE streamer’s network to your phone’s hotspot tethering?

Check if you can play radio, rosetube with your hotspot tethering. - If you can connect your streamer network to phone’s hotspot tethering, maybe resetting the router in your place may help.
My issue is with i2S
Are you saying that when you connect RS130 to Denafrips DAC via i2S, sound sources that require network such as Rosetube will not be played?
Correct. Network streaming works fine otherwise through any other output. And other streamers connect to the dac just fine with i2S. But the RS130 won’t pass the signal. It looks for a dac (should it really have to?) but doesn’t find one.
- Does the same symptom occur even if you change the A/B Type when using an i2S connection?
- Please tell me the DAC model name you are using.
- Does an error message appear when playing a Rosetube video when connecting the RS130 and the DAC with i2S? If an error message appears, please tell me the message content.
- Does the same thing occur even if you completely reboot your RS130?
Like EGR64 above, my I2S connection has stopped working. It sends static noise and crackling through my DAC/AMP/speakers. The other inputs play music normally. My HDMI cable is a brand new Audioquest Vodka that has been working great the past 6 weeks. @ROSEHAN or @EGR64, any advice?
Jim
Please respond to the above question I asked @EGR64.

Thank you for your reply. My answers to your four questions are as follows:
- My i2S cable originally worked in A mode. Once it stopped working, A-mode produced static & crackling noise through my speakers and no music. After the malfunction started, I tried B-mode and there was no sound of any kind.
- My DAC is the Denafrips Terminator II.
- I don’t recall if I tried playing RoseTube video after the i2S stopped working. I’m away from home for the next month and unable to test it until I return.
- I tried rebooting my RS130, the Rose Hifi app, and all my components and router several times. This did not correct the problem.

Many people use RS130 and Denafrips Terminator II with i2S connection.
-
Do you experience the same symptom when you connect other network players and Denafrips Terminator II with i2S instead of RS130?

Do you experience the same symptom when you connect RS130 and Denafrips Terminator II with other i2S cable?
Hello.
- My Terminator II & RS130 are my only components with i2S. I have a Bluesound Node X, but it does not have an i2S connection. The USB out on the RS130 works fine with the Terminator. However, I prefer the sound quality of the i2S over USB.
- My i2S cable is a brand new Audioquest Vodka cable. The RS130 and the Terminator worked fine with this i2S cable for a couple of months. I won’t be able to test another i2S/HDMI cable until I return in a month.
In the meantime, do you have any recommended solutions? Am I the only person who has experienced this problem? What was the solution for EGR64 and others who had the same problem?
