Network Switch with SFP and external clock

Can someone recommend a network switch that has a SFP connection to RS130 and external clock input?

I donā€™t believe they make network switches with external clocks. I donā€™t understand why they would? To connect my fiber enabled devices I use this ā€”> https://a.co/d/dwLFzvK. There are other discussions in the forum about 3rd party external clocks.

Have a look at this one : SoTM snH10G this one has 2 SFPā€˜s and there is a model with external clock input. You can drive them with a KECES P6 or similar.
And some users take two of them in a chain.
A nice theme is also the brand of SFP modules and there cable brands.

Thanks Iā€™ve been looking at Gustard n18 pro, they accept a fiber internet input, but for some reason they only have ethernet outputs (probably because their models donr accept SFP).

Do you think hooking up the network switch to master clock will improve SQ?

LHY SW-6, SW-8, SW-10, Matrix Audio SS-1 Pro, Gustard n18 pro, Melco S100/2, S10, s1.

Thank you. Is there any product that allow for SPF into streamer rather than ethernet connection?

I see the Matrix audio allows this. That is what I was looking for and will probably buy. Thank you.

Sorry, I donā€™t understand what you mean by ā€œproduct that allows for SPF into streamer rather than ethernet connectionā€. I thought you wanted a switch that has an SFP port and a clock port, because you want to synchronize the RS130, RD160 and the switch with the same clock.
Correction: only Melco S1 has a clock port (S100/2 and S10 donā€™t have).
Do you mean something like RSA720?

The matrix audio ss1 pro has a clock port too. I mean the switch should have 2 SFP ports one upstream and one downstream , for complete galvanic isolation from router to streaming device through SFP Fibre.

LHY Audio SW-10 Ethernet Switch will meet your requirements, plus LHK OCK-2 for master clock.

Thank you I looked at it, it looks good. Do you think I should buy Matrix or LHY? They both seem similar function

I bought LHY switch and clock and they provide positive impact to my system. However, I have not tried other switches and clocks in my system.

Where should I buy for USA delivery

I bought from the manufacturer directly. The owner is very nice guy and reputable. I am from the US as well.

I think you are mistaken and confuse optical loop isolation with galvanic isolation!
No need for 2 SFP ports for galvanic isolation! It does not mean that if there are 2, galvanic isolation is automatically produced! Is there galvanic isolation or not, and at the RJ45 ports!
You read this: How To Optimize Digital Streaming With Optical Fiber - The Absolute Sound
Anyway, the topic of the discussion is another ā€œNetwork Switch with SFP and external clockā€!

Galvanic isolation fiber optic" refers to a method of electrically isolating two circuits using fiber optic cables, where the signal is transmitted through light pulses instead of electrical current, preventing any direct electrical connection between the circuits, thus protecting against unwanted current flow and potential damage from voltage differences, essentially, itā€™s a way to transmit data between two electrically isolated systems using light through fiber optics.

I think you misunderstood. I am talking about galvanic isolation both upstream (router) and downstream(streamer) from network switch using light pulses rather than electrical current subject to interference.,

Hello everyone,

Iā€™m currently using SFP with my setup, but via an RJ45/SFP media converter. Now, Iā€™m planning to switch to a direct SFP connection for my RS130.

Hereā€™s the setup Iā€™m considering:

  • MikroTik RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN (Router with SFP port)
  • Allied Telesis AT-SPSX (1000Base-SX SFP module)
  • LEONI LWL cable (OM4, LC/LC, 3m)

A direct fiber connection without the RJ45/SFP media converter could offer better performance. Additionally, the clock precision of the MikroTik router seems to be well-suited for audio applications, according to its specifications.

What do you think?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Best regards,
Philipp

I like your idea. I have purchased a Esoteric master clock. I am running RS130-RD160 through the external clock. Iā€™m not sure if adding the network switch to external clock will help but Iā€™m going to try. I think your idea is very good to eliminate ethernet cable and make cleaner direct connection. If there was way to somehow add external clock to your network setup would be interesting.

SW10 plus OCK-2s work wonders for me too !
The SW10 currently is out off stock. Perhaps there will be an upgrade in place shortly?

What about matrix ss1 pro
