**Open Letter to HiFi Rose: The Community Deserves Better — Before It’s Too Late**

@duffer5

I’m reading a lot of complaints & demands but you have not expressed any problems you are having.

Please, can you list your most critical problems. This will help me understand why your frustrated and will help me justify your demands on HiFi Rose.

AFAIK, going back to version 5.09.07 was the solution for RS151 (If my memory is correct, HiFi Rose said the version 5.09.09 update was not meant for the RS151.

Steve_H

It’s also worth noting that many RS 151 devices have been purchased to date, and nowhere on the forums do they report poorer sound after the update, except for a few people here. My two friends and I bought an RS 151 over the summer. They updated to the latest version and haven’t noticed any sound degradation. I stuck with the older firmware, and overall, we’re all happy, regardless of the fact that we have different firmware on the device.

RS150B
With the latest software update, I had to reinstall the whole thing new, cause I was asked for passwords to change Wifi/Ethernet connection and other things that were never restricted with passwords.
Okay, other issues: I´m still waiting to change cover photos on the harddisk with Ipad or Iphone. Does this work now, after 3 years waiting, or not ? → I´m still waiting for that to get all my CD´s on harddisk.
When will amazon music be implemented ?

I hate fuking software idiots who implement new things I do not need instead of working on old problems.

I thought you sent your unit back to Korea? Or was that someone else?

Yeah… I think that if they are going to offer specific downloads they should make them available for download on their site, besides pushing them out to the units. Even then… you have to power off and then power on your unit in order to know that there’s an upgrade ready. So if its always on but in sleep mode… you don’t see the upgrade as available.

So you say you know what caused it.
Good, but here’s the thing.
You’re saying its 100% on Rose.
But we know that’s not the case. If it were, then it would happen w other amps.
It happened in your chain. So its that combination of components.

LOL…

I think you missed my point.
Pas de quois.

Rose, the truth is that for years you’ve been doing nothing but saying it’s difficult and we have to wait. Meanwhile, your competition, sometimes with devices that cost a fraction of your products’ value, keeps up with changes and somehow manages to introduce all the new features. You want to position yourselves as a premium brand, but the operation of your devices resembles that of devices from the '90s. You’ve been unable to launch Tidal Connect for five years, telling frustrated users that we have to wait because it’s difficult. Meanwhile, Tidal Connect has been a competitor for years, even in devices priced at $100, and I still don’t have my $250 Rose, which cost over $3,000 the day I bought it. Now, lossless Spotify Connect has appeared. I was hoping it might be manageable, but I’m already hearing that it’s difficult, so I know perfectly well it will be like Tidal Connect. So there’s no point in making excuses; you either finally start keeping up with the rest of the world, or you can stop deceiving users with unfulfilled promises.

Well, that’s not going to happen. That means new hardware… Rose’s little magic box.

For me, as a non-Spotify user, it’s simply ridiculous.

Rose, please give me an RS520 for $500 and I’ll consider getting a Wii M or Eversolo instead.

It’s just laughable, so much money for these devices and they’re practically paperweights.

Dear HiFi Rose users

We have created a new section in the HiFi Rose Community called Software Feedback Journal.
This will allow us to share the progress of ongoing issues more transparently, and provide clear updates on the problems users are experiencing.

Going forward, we aim to improve through small but continuous changes and transparent communication.

You need a section for hardware as well as your products are failing at a concerning rate, (given that this public forum is the only visibility we get into problems / failures) including your newly introduced RS451. Future buyers should be aware of the risk in buying a HiFi Rose products.

Sorry you didn’t like the RS520.

I think that you’re going to find a bit of a trade off.

On the one hand you could spend a lot more for an AIO (All in One) and get some better components.
Newer features since the RS520 is a couple of years old in terms of design and components. I believe most of the major brands offer some form of an AIO.

Or you could spend less and get an Eversolo Play. It has a better UI interface… but when it comes to components. There are compromises. The amp isn’t as good. The RS520 has a really good GaNFET that will do 250wpc at 8 ohms and more at 4, but its stated rating is also 250wpc too. The ESS dac chip is pretty good, and does the job.

Where the RS520 has issues:
external wifi and bt combo dongle. Its limited to BT 4.2 and wi-fi 5.x This isn’t bad but if they allowed and supported separates you could get BT 5.x and wi-fi 6 or later. The only issue would be the device drivers. (Note that the RS451 has built in BT and wi-fi)

The UI is also a sore point.
There are other issues… but the non-intuitive nature of the UI is probably the biggest issue.

The remote is also problematic. I find using the Rose app on my iPad or macbook to be a better UI than the remote.

Also some of the features seem a little gimmicky.
The HDMI out for example. (eARC is in… not out.)

Also a lack of features. (e.g Parametric EQ, balance, and room correction)

There are some better options out there… albeit at a higher price point where you also have tradeoffs.
Lyngdorf is a good example.

One thing to note on this thread.
Something positive.

In a separate thread on the RS520 ‘channel’ I raised an issue about a potential problem w airplay.

I’ve noticed that occasionally airplay would drop intermittently or connect but no sound.
@Rose_love and @ROSEHAN were responsive on the thread, asking questions… attempting to see if they had any issues. They tried to use airplay for several hours to see if they could reproduce it.

What I’ve found so far is that when using iOS 16.x on my iPad… no issues. Not with any device on my network. With my iPhone running 26.x and my macbook also running 26.x, there were issues.
Had trouble connecting to devices and w the RS520 … it would drop but I could reconnect.

This leads me to believe there’s an OS issue on the Apple side of things.

While the issue hasn’t been completely resolved… the point is that Rose has been proactive and attempting to help. Its something positive.

Yes there are issues with some products that need to be resolved. But rather than constantly bashing them, we should at least acknowledge when they try to do the right thing.

While there are “good GanFETs” out there (good meaning that aren’t significantly worse than what Purify or Hypex are doing), RS520’s is only adequate. It’s not bad, but one could easily find a stand-alone power amp with better output and better specs for less money (including the price of EverSolo) than what 520 costs.

Just like in EverSolo.

Not much of a limitation for music listening.

It does have PEQ. Limited number of frequencies, but PEQ nonetheless.
