Optical vs RCA Outputs?

I’ve incorporated my new 150b using the optical out. I don’t have an XLR option through my preamp.

Sound quality is a bit “bright” in the high’s with my new speakers. I thought experimenting with the filter settings might be a solution in softening the sound and realized that option was only available if output was running through the RCA’s.

Should I be using the RCA’s in any case?

It depends on what you want to acheive.
If you want to use the Rose’s Dac, you definitely have to use the analog output (RCA). Otherwise, using digital output (optical or coax), leed you to use the Dac of your preamp.
