PCM Delay Time Not Working!

Hello,
I just bought a DAC that requires a PCM delay to avoid cuts at the beginning of tracks or when searching in the track. On my RS130 this does not work, I use the coaxial digital output.
I can set it in the menu to 500 ms or 3 seconds, it does not change anything at all.
I tested with the Roon application controlling the RS130 where the setting is also available, it works perfectly. Even when moving the track cursor I have no cuts and the sound reappears absolutely instantly. Unlike the RS130 where a fairly significant latency is noted with the loading circle that appears for 2-3 seconds at each action of changing track or searching in the track with obviously a digital unlocking of the DAC.
My RS130 is 100% up to date as well as all the applications.
@ROSEHAN can you help me solve this because it is super annoying.
Thank you very much.

@GuileZ_Kicked

I have a few questions for you to check.

  1. When connecting your DAC to RS130, does the same symptom occur when connecting via USB instead of coaxial?

  2. Does the same phenomenon occur with all sound sources?

  3. Does the same phenomenon occur when listening to the same album continuously?

Hello @RoseHan,
My new DAC does not have a USB input. Just Optical, Coaxial and HSLINK (Accuphase)
I have no cut-off when I let the album play between tracks. Unless there is a change in resolution format between tracks (44kHz-> 96kHz for example) I have cut-offs if I move from one track to another by my action of changing tracks or if I move the cursor to go to another place on the same track.
I tested disabling the AES and Optical outputs of the RS130, no effect. I can set it to 500ms or 3 sec but it changes absolutely nothing. I repeat via ROON, it works perfectly but I want to use the ROSE application exclusively from now on to no longer pay the ROON subscription, the ROSE application being on a good track in terms of improvements, it is perfectly enough for me at the moment apart from this “bug”

@GuileZ_Kicked

We haven’t seen the same symptom yet.

Please answer my additional questions.

  1. When the song you’re playing ends and you naturally move on to the next song, does the beginning of the audio play without any interruption?

  2. When you randomly press a specific song to play, does the beginning of the audio play without any interruption?

  3. Does the same symptom occur even if you set it as follows?
    RS130–>Settings–>Audio settings–>PCM delay time (3000ms)

  4. If you have another streamer, does the same symptom occur when you connect your HSLINK (Accuphase) to Optical or Coaxial?

@Rosehan
Same symptom in Coaxial and Optical.
Since HSLINK is a 100% proprietary connection to Accuphase, I cannot use it with the RS130
The delay setting is 100% inoperative on the RS130, from 0 to 3000 ms no effect, I have already explained it to you.
I am not the only one in this case @hernamf has exactly the same problem with a different DAC.

I also tested with my other DAC Holo Spring 3 Lvl in Coaxial, same problem while in USB there is none. It is indeed a software problem of the RS130 with the outputs (AES/Optical/Coaxial), as I have already described with the Roon application via the RS130 and my DAC in Coaxial, the problem does not exist and the delay setting in the Roon application works perfectly.
This must be reported to your software team for analysis without delay. It’s incredible that they missed such an obvious BUG in use!

Hello @ROSEHAN , I would like to know if this problem has been taken into account for study by your technical team?

@GuileZ_Kicked

I don’t know that this is a ROSE “bug” and I would be surprised if they could do anything about it. I have/had the same issue with my Holo May KTE until I disabled the PLL Phase Lock Loop on it. Some DACs don’t have a problem or delay some do, this is a DAC thing not a streamer thing. I previously ran into a similar issue between another streamer and my RME DAC.

In the end, I decided to use USB w/ Fiber SFP connection via RSA720 because it yielded the best SQ even over I2S and certainly over COAX.

Also, in my subjective experience/opinion, the UI/UX of Rose is highly inferior to ROON but YMMV.

@GuileZ_Kicked
This is a problem we are aware of.
We are aware of the phenomenon of the beginning part being cut off when connecting optical and coaxial, but it does not seem easy to solve.

  1. Does the same symptom occur even if you set the Max sample rate to 192kHz and the Resample rate to 192kHz in the PCM Resampling function in the output settings of your RS130?

  2. The symptom occurs differently depending on the DAC, but sometimes the DAC itself mutes and releases it when the sample rate changes.
    Please tell us the model name of the DAC you are using.

@HMANAZ Nothing to do with the DAC since I repeat it with Roon via the RS130, the problem does not exist. So Roon knows how to do it. Since in this case it is Roon who takes control of the software on the RS130.

@ROSEHAN

Already tested this setting, it doesn’t change anything

Yes all DACs mute when changing resolution but here it is the RS130 that mutes even when there is no change in resolution when changing tracks. Just like when searching in the track itself.
Roon does not mute anything at all. Only when changing resolution. You have created a setting that does not work, it works in Roon. Apart from having a nice object if I have to use Roon constantly, the RS130 is no longer useful…
My Dac is an Accuphase DG 68 and my 2nd DAC is a HoloSpring 3 Level2

@GuileZ_Kicked

This issue has been a hot topic for us for some time.

We will look into this issue in more detail.

@GuileZ_Kicked

The next update will be released with a fix for the Tidal video output in low quality to be played in the highest quality.

The next update will fix the issue where the Rosetube video is played in a different language to be played in the original language (English).
We plan to fix the dubbing selection later.

@ROSEHAN Hello,
very well noted, thank you for taking the problem into account.
We will try to be patient.
