PCM Resampling does not work on RS130

When playing music from Apple Music, even if I set Max sample rate to “Auto” and the Resample rate to “Original” in the PCM Resampling function in the output settings, the signal is always sent to my DAC at 96 kHz.
When I set the Max Sample Rate to either “192kHz” or “384kHz” ( Resampling Rate is still set to “Original” ), the signal is sent at 192kHz.
Regardless of the value of Max sample rate, no matter what value I set for Resample rate, the output signal ignores that setting and remain fixed at one of the two patterns mentioned above.

I tried connecting the RS130 and DAC via both USB and S/PDIF(COAX), but the same symptom occurred with both.
I have confirmed with another streamer that the sampling rates of those sound sources are not 192 kHz or 96 kHz.
*Since Apple Music is the only audio source available on my RS130, I have not checked the situation with other audio sources (other streaming services, local music files, etc.).

I want to send the signal to the DAC at the original sample rate, but I can’t.
Does anyone know why this setting doesn’t work and how to fix it?
Is this a specification of Apple Music playback on Rose OS?

Thank you.

What you are experiencing is not a malfunction of your RS130, but a limitation of Apple Music playback on Rose OS.

Apple Music currently delivers its audio stream to third-party devices in a fixed output format. On the RS130, this results in playback at 96 kHz by default, or at 192 kHz when a higher maximum sample rate is selected in the settings.

Because of this, the Resample Rate = Original option cannot pass the “native/original” sample rate from Apple Music. Instead, the stream is automatically converted to one of these fixed rates before being sent to your DAC.

This behavior is the same across both USB and S/PDIF outputs and is specific to Apple Music integration on Rose OS. Other streaming services (such as Qobuz, TIDAL) and local file playback do follow the “Original” resampling setting correctly.

Thank you for your reply.
I understand this behavior is intentional, and there is currently no way to play Apple Music at its “native/original” sample rate on the RS130.

I understand that the term “third-party device” you mentioned more accurately refers to “Apple Music app on Rose OS”. This is because Apple Music can be played back bit-perfectly on multiple third-party streamers and DAPs (though not all of them).

This is likely due to the Android SRC, but since other streaming services on Rose OS can playback at the original sample rate, I speculate that the Audio Engine is not applying that processing to Apple Music. (It seems not to be a technical issue, but rather because Rose does not require that level of audio quality for Apple Music playback.)

In any case, as you advised, I confirmed that Qobuz can play back at the original sample rate, so I would like to switch from Apple Music to Qobuz.

However, I hope that Rose OS will also be able to play back bit-perfectly with Apple Music in the future.

Thank you again.

Regarding the Apple Music lossless audio you mentioned last time, we are working to continue supporting it.

We will also work to support lossless audio in Apple Music in the future.
