Connect should work as well, once you manage to get Rose logged in…
I’ll say it again… Rose makes for a nice Roon endpoint. Mostly because it is primarily Roon’s code that is in play. For everything else you are at the mercy of lowest-cost offshore development team they had found to implement “RoseOS.”
You’re welcome. I try to be helpful to reasonable people
Boris, 2 problems using Qobuz connect:
-
My iPad inexplicably disconnects from the unit and I can only listen on the iPad, sometimes reconnecting with the unit requires a restart of the 130;
-
Song to song transitions, say going from track 1 to 2 or track 2 to 3, there is a small hiccup in the stream, 100 msec or so, when the next song starts to play. So the song starts and then there is a stutter and then it resumes. It is not the same as the no-gapless play problem with Apple Music, It is more of a hiccup.
Both of these are unacceptable. Neither of these problems occur when I use Rose Connect, so that is what I am sticking with.
I am still considering Roon, but I am also considering a new transport like the T8 or a new streamer / DAC. Since the unit has finally beaten me into submission and I can get enough from it, I can take my time with the next decision.
Well, to be fair, I did not tell whether Connect is working well, just that it appears to work, I do not really have any use for it.
I still do not believe in any point of a purely digital “streamer” without a DAC, any $200 mini-PC would be infinitely superior to one in any important respect (and any streaming service under the sun would work), but at least Zidoo has people fixing bugs. And they do not consider making a spectrum analyzer to be some kind of insurmountable challenge.
I still like Roon as the central source though.
