Playing SACD from Oppo 203 to Hifi Rose 150b

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help with this. I want to play SACD’s from my Oppo 203 into the Hifi Rose 150b utilizing the Hifi Rose’s DAC. I can get sound when hooking up via RCA cables, but thats only by passing the Rose’s DAC. When trying to connect via coax or optical I get no sound. Is there a setting in need to turn on?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

oppo203 can only transfer DSD Stream from the SACD over HDMI.
if you check the owners manual:
Due to copyright restrictions, SACD audio cannot be sent through the coaxial or optical digital audio output. To listen to SACDs, please use the HDMI or analog audio connections.

You need either to rip the Stereo SACD DSD Files or create an ISO Image from it and store them in the Rose local drive in order to play DSD on the Rose’s DAC. ISO Images can be read by the Rose Player - but it does not accept it over HDMI, as the oppo is not an ARC device.

I ripped all my SACD to my NAS, and play them over Roon (as I do with all my music collection).

Try ISO2DSD by Sonore to rip SACD on DSD files.

With the Oppo 203, you can’t rip SACDs; you must use a previous model from Oppo, Cambdrige Audio, Sony, …

Also using the analogue output doesn’t make sense, because thd RS150 will digitalize all analogue inputs.

Thanks everyone for your help and input. I was hoping to achieve this without having to rip the SACD’s, but it doesn’t look like that is possible. I just tried a wonderful product by GeerFab Audio the D.BOB. Unfortunately, this didn’t work because the Hifi rose won’t accept DoP over coax. If it did, my problem would be solved! Does anyone know if this can be achieved with a software update at some point? Hifi rose have not responded to my email regarding this.

Running the Oppo with rca analog cables pass through the Rose sounds pretty good, but I really want to use the Hifi Rose Dac
Thanks again!

If it digitizes the analogue input, what DAC would it be using? The Oppo’s or Hifi Rose? I’m new to all this and don’t fully understand the intricacies.
Thanks for your input!

Boths DACs:
Oppo’s DAC analogue out → Rose analogue in → digitize → Rose DAC → analogue out…

Hmm, so I may be all set then? I was under the impression that I was bypassing the hifi rose DAC and just using it as a bypass. The Display when playing a SACD from the Oppo 203 to the hifi rose shows 32bits 192.0kHz. This is using line in input. Would ripping to DSD get me anything more then I am currently getting? I’m probably complicating things a bit lol.
Thanks

Again: There isn’t any analogue bypass.
If you rip your SACDs (I’ve done this with over 1000 pieces), then you can put them on the internal SSD, external HDD, NAS or you use (what I’m primarly do) Roon.
If you don’t want to do this, then use the CD layer from the SACD and connect the Oppo through SPDIF to the Rose.

You can use a hdmi-audio extractor from your oppo to the RS150b. It works (for instance for me).

oppo hdmi out → hdmi audio extractor hdmi in → hdmi audio extractor opt/coax out → RS150b opt/coax in

Hi Frank, thanks for your reply. What extractor are you using? I have tried a couple of them and have had no luck with the Coax input. Did you have to do anything in the settings to get this to work?
Dave

Hi Dave , i use this device: delock 62492 hdmi stereo / 5.1 chanel audio extractor

Hi Guys,
Thanks for everyones help and recommendations. I was finally able to get the GeerFab’s D.BOB working with the HiFi Rose. I am now able to enjoy my SACD’s. I must say, I am quit impressed with this setup!

Hi everyone. My first time here! Can I connect my Oppo (or any sacd player with HDMI out) to the HDMI ARC in of the 150? Then use the 150 to connect to my integrated amp? I have read that HDMI playback gives the highest sound quality for SACD–would this be the case here?

Thanks!

Hi,
Unfortunately, you cannot. I have tried to play SACD’s from my Oppo to my Hifi Rose and the only way I am able to do that is utilizing the GeerFab. It is wonderful, and depending on your current SACD collection, or future plan for one is an excellent investment.
