Playing Tidal from PC via USB, settings

Hi,

I’m trying to play from the Tidal app on PC(Win10) via USB to the RS250 and then via analog out to a power amplifier.
I have installed the Rose Audio Driver and it is set to 16 bit. There is an option of 32 bit, but then Tidal gives a message that you must use the 16 bit setting.

In Tidal I have set the RS250 as output and turned on “Exclusive mode” and “Pass thru MQA”.

If I play, what I know is, a 16 bit, 44.1 kHz, MQA 44.1 kHz Master music track everthing seems fine. However I can not find a way to see the complete signal information. Is there a way to see this when using USB input?

Now, if I play, what I know is, a 24 bit, 48 kHz MQA 96 kHz Master music track it seems like it exits the “Exclusive mode” and the sound level gets very low. Also I can see that the “VU meter” in the PC sound menu starts to light up (see picture); it does not when in “Exclusive mode”.

The same happens (exits Exclusive mode) if I play a mp4 video track.

Is it the Rose Audio Driver that is not working correctly or is there some setting I can change to make it work?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

@ROSELOA do you have any input regarding this matter? What settings should I make to play from the Tidal app on PC(Win10) via USB to the RS250, in the correct way with full MQA decoding? As it seems know I can only play 16 bit tracks correctly.

If I turn off “Exclusive mode” in Tidal it will not be correct since I then can modify the signal by altering the bit- and sampling rate settings in the PC:s “Speaker Properties”, see generic picture below.

Hello,

Seems like a lot of people had issue about 'TIDAL requires you to set your system sound settings in Control Panel to "16bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)’. However, there is no way I can do anything about that :sob:

PC > (USB) > RS250 > (RCA) > power amplifier > SPK
If this is what you’re using, at least ‘passthrough MQA’ better be ON, because RS250 supports MQA full decoding.

However I can not find a way to see the complete signal information. Is there a way to see this when using USB input?
→ No, can not check USB IN.

Hi,

Thank you for the information. Then I know I haven’t messed things up :slightly_smiling_face:.

I mostly play from Tidal in the Rose Connect app on my phone and from there it works fine. I only play from the Tidal’s own app to get the “My daily discovery” mix that I can not find in Rose-Tidal.
