Per a response I received from another user, I was told Hifi Rose has no desire to publish IR codes. I don’t know what the reasoning is or harm in doing so. Rather than accept the kind response from a fellow user, I thought I’d post the suggestion here.
Please publish IR codes for your devices so they can be used for universal remotes and home automation control.
Further, I would love to be able to be able to control my RS130 via IP control. Clearly this can be done because it’s what the Rose One app uses to control the streamer.
I started using an Unfolded Circle Remote 3 and found it to be a very powerful device (albeit a bit frustrating to figure out and get setup). For whatever reason, it cannot learn the IR remotes from my RS130 remote. I think it’s a limitation of the Unfolded Circle Remote vs. an issue with the RS130 remote. However, I can manually program the remote using IR codes. Going one step further, it would be even better to control the RS130 using my remote via IP.
The user who replied to my other post said Hifi Rose has repeatedly declined requests for IR codes and Web API (which I am guessing is another way of saying to expose IP control). I’m sure there is some reasoning for this an average user like me might not understand. That said, in my opinion, making your products more accessible and ingrained into customer’s setups would seem to be advantageous. Now that I am aware of the power and convenience of IP control, it will be a factor in all of my future purchases.
