Power Cords for RS130

EMI and galvanic isolation are different things. Galvanic isolation (within reason) is provided by either copper of fiber Ethernet.

EMI is something different, and you are not really reducing it by introducing a powerful active device.

Because…

Because that is a personal, subjective preference. And of course a tube amp can be measured as sounding different.

Over preferences – completely pointless. Makes even less sense than arguing what music should we listen to.

Where the problem is, to me anyway, is when you take your personal preference, which you are totally entitled to and don’t need to explain to anyone, and try to give it some objectivist sheen by claiming some physical reason for it where there is none. E.g. connecting with a fiber SFP module does not give you any better (barring a lightning hit) galvanic isolation or less EMI (unless you are running a Russian spy radio station at home). Sticking a fatter mains cord does not provide any better electric supply (for how much power a 130 needs, it would work just fine with a lamp cord anyway).

You can certainly prefer it that way (because lasers! ) which is perfectly fine, just don’t go claiming that there is an objective difference.

We literally have a guy in a nearby thread claiming that configuring Roon to prefer censored versions of songs improves sound. But it really makes just as much difference.

Now this I can absolutely believe. Voltage regulation can absolutely make a difference.

The test is fine. The product is flawed though – it claims to clean the signal, but does the opposite. Although apparently not to the point where a device with decent enough power supply would notice the difference. Now, if it also happens to regulate voltage better than the built-in power supply can (which it’d better do, since it uses significantly more power than it puts out) that can, and apparently does make a difference. Of course one could also get a better designed voltage regulator for 1/5th the price, 1/10th the weight, and fitting on an equipment rack, but it would not come with Uncle Paul behind it.

Well, since it looks like it is making some objective difference for you, I guess everyone comes out ahead.

Hope you get it back soon.

 :joy:  :clap:t2: :moneybag:

…and read the comments too!

Because:

Anyone who can read (and understands it) has a clear advantage!

I go with what I can afford. It can’t hurt. I actually DO hear a different with better connects. I think the most profound difference i noticed is when I replaced the stock jumper on my amp with the audioquest jumper.

I’ve been putting together a full loom of Swisscables over the last few years (Diamond and Ref+ series). Hard to find here in the USA but it’s been worth the search for me. Wonderful construction, neutral sound, and has made a positive change in my system. Downside is they are a bit pricey - 1k to 4k per cable depending on series.

I like Swisscable too, use it in my primary listening location located at about 4080 ft altitude. They give that really open and spacious sound there.

Did try them at my vacation home near the sea though, 30 ft alt. Balance was odly off, just like if proper control , air pressure ?, was missing.

Nobody said insufficient! Also it is nice to try it first and then talk than assume or doubt by presumption and talk nonsense in advance. Just my opinion

You do not need to try to touch the fire in order to learn you will have burns if you do that. Remember, the task of an digital transport is to convert bits form one form to another. So, if we assume that all the bits will come intact to the DAC (which is correct in 100% of cases) there is no possibility that an power cord other than generic can have influence on an digital transport.

Funny how people blabbering about “nonsense” are the ones who seem to need to try sticking a fork into a wall socket. Can’t believe those eggheads, gotta try for myself!

Hi 37below,
Which spf modules are you using between the 130 and 160 ?

Apologies, typo, should read sfp modules

Just the basic Rose version. I was shopping around on Amazon for options, but was time limited and the dealer had the modules on hand. He cut me a deal so I went that route.

It is funny how you don’t believe in common logic. Of course you first try and then you talk.
I am like you with food. I don’t want to try anything I haven’t tried yet, I believe it is very bad, Without trying it at all. That’s why I don’t eat any fish. People say Salmon is good, but I don’t believe then. I think they are stupid. But actually I know that it is stupid to judge before you try. How many times I was proven wrong! Stupid isn’t it? But I am smart enough to know that the mistake is not in the people. Perhaps you could learn something from this example. I know that you won’t, but that is also stupid isn’t? As knowing in advance is also a stupid thing to do. So many stupidity in this world these days ha :))))

Ok. Thanks for the reply

Great analogy!!!111

You definitely should try eating some excrement before you can judge how nutritious and tasty it is!!! After all, billions of audiophiles, erm… flies can’t be wrong!!!11111

PS Apologies to the flies. They tend to be far more intelligent than audiophiles.

So Audiophiles are not inteligent? And what are you then? Huh this guy makes my day. Always!

The answer is looking at you from the mirror. “Audiophiles” are quite a bit less intelligent than a pile of rocks.
