Power Cords for RS130

Has anyone experienced a sound quality improvement using an upgraded power cord on the RS130?

If so, what brand and model power cords would you recommend -?

@Bicycle
Personally, I connected an Audioquest Firebird cable, the contribution is considerable, much more details, larger soundstage, better bass, the voices stand out much more, in short is in its place and the immersion in the music is total.
All my cables are Firebird or Thunderbird and Hurricane from Audioquest. Obviously other brands will also be very good and all will bring a notable improvement

Yes, power cable is important.
I am using a DIY cable made of OFC copper. Results are more or less as @PatriceP described.

How do you people even manage to turn a computer on?!

I recently bought a cable with diamonds on the surface of the cable and you couldn’t imagine what it sounds like. I don’t just hear the angels singing now, no, I also hear the aliens who are here and are camouflaged. Unfortunately, they were exposed by this diamond cable.

Listen to music and don’t listen to your stereo!!!

That’s cool. I’m using Synergistic Research on all my DACs. Just wondering if I should splurge on a more expensive model for the RS130.

You probably think there is no scientific evidence for speaker cables either right? Once I see one of these power cord critics who actually own a loom of reputable cables, maybe I’d listen.

I guess I must have been totally nuts to think an electronic device’s performance would be improved by enhanced delivery of electricity . Sorry for being so crazy .

That’s OK!!!

We’re all a little crazy.

Now, off to your padded cell.

ifi supanova, active noise cancelling

Ifi supanova — A reasonably priced good choice. :+1:

Apparently these cables perform well at a much lower cost. I might try the XLR interconnect and power cord.

And, surprise, there isn’t!

Maybe if you knew jack squat about electricity, you would not have been so surprised. But it is always people who know absolutely nothing about anything who are most militantly convinced of hearing things that are not there.

I use Jorma Design Trinity Power cable and I am satisfied with the sound.
A good gain was also the use of a linear source at the RSA720 instead of the SMPS supplied in the package.

Listen up now, folks: A cable can’t make a sound. There’s more acoustics in an empty fish can if the wind blows in.

Okay, show me your evidence. I find this evidence much more compelling of actual speaker cable measurement than your online trolling. Let’s face it, you don’t own any of the flagship Rose products, so please stay in the 250 forum.

Here is an actual thoughtful analysis with scientific measurements and proof far beyond any internet trolls by a real, reputable company that actually has resources

Taken from ASR:

I found some data showing that different diameters of speaker cable can translate into differences in sound that reach the threshold of audibility.

TLDR?

  1. It’s great science from L-Acoustics, which is one of the “Big 3” of live touring speakers. Never heard of L-Acoustics? They powered Adele’s residency in Las Vegas and are the speakers used at places like the Hollywood Bowl. It’s a well-respected audio company.

  2. The research was done with 70/100V commercial speakers.

  3. They did mathematical simulations and compared them to real measurements with a microphone. In some cases, the predictions were overzealous in the size of the difference, but the actual measurements still confirmed the overall predictions.

  4. They were looking at distances as high as 150 meters in length! That’s about 220 washing machines lined up shoulder to shoulder!

So how does this apply to the home environment?

Speaker cable differences can be measured using conventional tools. There is no magic that is unmeasurable or something that can only be heard by your ears. I think this is pretty clean science from L-Acoustics.

Audiophile cable manufacturers now have a clear and easy way to convince the objectivist crowd that their speaker cable actually makes a difference. Do the measurements to show us the difference and specify what length it took to reach the audible threshold when comparing the different cables as well as the speaker and amplifier being used. In fact, if audiophile wire manufacturers published the differences when measuring the whole industrial spool between their entry level wire and their premium wire, that would actually go a big way into taking speaker wires out of the snake oil category. It’s perfectly reasonable to add the disclaimer that the difference decreases as the length decreases, and everyone would understand the need to consider their own hearing thresholds, their room needs, and how much they value of “bragging rights.”

The truth of matter is these cable critics like Boris have entry level systems and they simply don’t have the resources or money to spend on adequately researching and owning these products. It’s a terrible thing, but every audiophile I know who has a decent knowledge of cabling has spent tens of thousands on cables . Boris is still on rs250, he doesn’t even have the rs130 , let alone able to afford any cables. I wish it was more affordable myself, but it’s just the sad reality. You have to pay to play. Nobody said tracking your Porsche was going to be cheap. Tires are expensive. Somebody with Boris ownership level simply doesn’t have the resources to make an educated opinion based on research spending time with the products in a controlled environment. In addition, he’s not willing to study and accept the sound science of engineers and scientists who are credible and reputable working in the audio industry. So it’s best to just ignore his juvenile insults as they are meaningless and defensive mechanism for his lack of knowledge, experience, and credibility in this field . Of course there are scams and snake oil, and poor value proposition, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t legitimate products and legitimate science. One has to do the research and conclude on their own. There is no substitute for owning a product, putting it in your system, AB test if possible, and learning what YOU like.

If you or you are still normal people, you also know that your ears can no longer hear it.

It always comes down to the same thing:
To take your money out of your pocket. Once you have bought (Van den Hul), human imagination (the self-deception) comes to the fore again and I justify the expensive cables by saying that I can now really hear the angels singing in the moonlight.

Of course, you shouldn’t use just any cable. Also look at the internal resistance of cables. If you use 2.5, 4, 6 mm2 on 3m of speaker cable, the internal resistance is so marginal that I doubt you will hear a difference. Unless it cost 12,000€ and your imagination says yes.

And even at absolute zero (ever heard of that?)

You wouldn’t hear any difference with your ears, so such tests are simply irrelevant for the 15kHz that I can still hear.

Go to an ear doctor and do a hearing test, then you’ll see during the evaluation whether you can hear the angels singing (which I definitely don’t believe).

But I’ve always said: If you want to waste your money on it, do it.

Then invest in new speakers that really bring the sound to your ears and body (infrasound).

Because speakers are the most important part of an audio system, apart from a good amplifier.
