Questions regarding public/shared media

@ROSEHAN @Rose_love

When I’m playing another user’s Qobuz public playlist and

  1. I am currently logged-in Qobuz, are the public playlist’s tracks accessed from my Qobuz’s database?
  2. I do not have a Qobuz subscription, can I view/play this other user’s public playlist?
  3. Can I mark one of my Albums as Public/Share? Or is Playlist the only media type that I can set as public/share?

@joyofmvid

Here are the answers to your questions:

  1. If you are logged into Qobuz and play a playlist that another user has set to public, the Qobuz tracks are not managed by us. When playback starts, the music is streamed using the URL provided directly by Qobuz.
  2. No. If you are not subscribed to Qobuz and the public playlist contains Qobuz tracks, those tracks cannot be fully played. If you try to play them without being logged into a Qobuz account, only a 30-second preview will be available.
  3. Public sharing is only available for your playlists. Within your playlists, you can set the visibility to Public, Friends Only, or Private.

@ROSEHAN

Thanks for your great reply. It has definitely helped me understand.

Regarding question #2 & your response:

  • If I am not subscribed to Qobuz, can I access & browse Qobuz? Your response infers I can and that anything I play in Qobuz will be a preview playback. Is this correct? Also, what is the playback duration of a preview (preferably, in seconds)

@joyofmvid

If you are not subscribed to Qobuz, search results for Qobuz will not appear.
Preview playback is limited to 30 seconds.

@ROSEHAN
It not subscribed, can I select Qobuz and access its UIF just to see its user interface.

@joyofmvid

No, after checking, it is not possible to do that.
