My 180 has been working fine for months but it won’t turn on now and the power light is blinking. Search didn’t reveal any answers for me. Any ideas?
Please confirm a few things.
-
Does the power button on your RA180 still blink when you unplug and reconnect the power cable?
-
Do you not hear a relay click when you press the power button on your RA180?

Thank you.
- Yes, I had the issue all day yesterday after I replaced the stock cord with a DH Labs silver sonic power plus cord. I reinstalled the original cord and still had the issue.
However, I unplugged the power cord from the unit overnight and it works fine now. I’m concerned that I shouldn’t try the upgraded power cord again? Thank you
Why on Earth would you you use a different power cord in the first place?!
Thanks. I had no doubt someone would chime in with a helpful comment re: cables.
I think Boris’ comment is a bit helpful.
Why did you use a different power cable than the standard cables?
There could be an issue w the aftermarket cable.
Are you plugging the cable directly from the wall socket, or do you have any sort of surge protector in the path? If not a surge protector a line conditioner? Battery backup?
Could be a couple of things that caused it.
I had a cable already that I wanted to try. It is plugged into a good (I guess… $300) surge protector intended for audio equipment. The 180 was still flashing after I reinstalled the oem cord. Working fine this morning after I left it unplugged overnight. My remote has not been working over the last few weeks as well (but not a constant flashing like others have seen from the remote) so I was concerned that something is wrong with the unit. Thanks for the responses - hopefully good now.
Not sure why your power cord would cause a problem… but leaving it unplugged for a while lets the stored energy in the caps dissipate. I suspect leaving it unplugged for an hour or so would have done the same thing.
With respect to the remote… not sure. How old are the batteries? My remote started acting weird but when I put in new batteries … not a problem worked ok.
I have an RS520 and since I bought it used… I guess I should have done a factory reset day one. I didn’t so I did one the other day just after the latest update of software. It was a pain to get the RS520 to recognize the remote. I mean it was slow but once it did… that was it… everything is fine.
Thanks. I assumed that was the case (cap dissipation needed as a protection).
Re remote: I tried new batteries and that didn’t help. I need to try again - maybe a bad angle or I was too far away. I just noticed folks mentioning the flashing remote during my forum search so thought I’d mention - surely no connection.
Appreciate the input. I may try the other cord again, after it’s unplugged for a while.
You can certainly keep trying… It is probably just a coincidence, DH Labs at least isn’t (or weren’t) a completely crooked outfit.
I’d check it for any shorts before doing that again, though, as it could zap your 180 again. It still makes no sense as a) there’s no such thing as an “upgraded” power cable unless Rose somehow included a lamp cord with your unit, and it overheats when playing loud, and b) unless you have upgraded the wiring inside the walls, on the street, and all the way to the substation (at least; real audiophiles buy their own nuclear power stations!) plugging a little bit of overpriced copper in between has about as much effect as painting your CDs with a green marker.
Funny, I had you pegged as a Stromtank owner Boris. The biggest Stromtank of course.
Go big or go home!
Those dials look cool!
I guess if one is tasteless enough to have a set of d’Agostino amps, they absolutely need these things, too. At least thelook will be consistent. And it’s “Made in Germany!”
