I recently switched modems and ever since I’ve been unable to connect the 250 to the app. They are on the same network. I’ve tried both ethernet and wifi. Any hints on how to fix this? Rose support isn’t very helpful. I am on an iPhone 16.
Hi @Fastracer88
If a connection failure occurs, please share your iPhone screen to verify the detailed status.
Also, please activate your smartphone’s hotspot and connect your Rose device to your smartphone via the hotspot’s Wi-Fi to confirm the connection is normal.
Hallo Fastracer88
Ich gehe davon aus das du ein Rose RS 250 hast.
Schau mal in der Suche nach Dirks.rs250 nach, ganz unten. Ich habe mein Rose eine feste IP Adresse vergeben.
Here are the three images requested. I hope you can now help me connect the app. Clearly I can connect via hotspot. Thank you.
As a new user I can only post one image at a time so there will be three posts.
@Fastracer88
If you can connect normally to the hotspot, it seems like the problem is with your home router.
Please try restarting your iPhone device and connect both the Rose device and your iPhone to the same SSID of the same router to check.
Please forgive my ignorance with this stuff. On the label of the router the SSID is as shown in the attached photo of the RS250. MyAltice… You will see that my phone is connected to the same SSID in the second photo. Why then can’t I connect with the app?
Thank you for your confirmation.
After connecting to your home Wi-Fi, please provide the IP address of the connected iPhone and the IP address of the Rose device.
Also, Please click on “IP search” on the left and manually enter the Rose IP to confirm.
iPhone IP address: 192.168.4.108
Rose IP address: 192.168.1.103
IP Search: 192.168
Nothing shows up other than the above for IP Search. No device appears for selection.
How do I get the IP addresses to agree?
What’s your netmask? Third octet being different, in most home setups 192.168.4.x and 192.168.1.x would be completely different networks. Do you have any kind of IoT or Guest network defined on your router that either Rose or your phone might be connecting to?
hi @Fastracer88
I will test it after setting the IP band of the router to the same value and leave a comment.
@Fastracer88
Select IP search in the upper left corner and try entering the Rose IP address (ex: 192.168.1.103) directly.
If the connection fails even after entering it directly, you may need to change the net mask to 255.255.255.0 in the router settings.
What is a netmask? I’ve disabled any conceivable networks including from my neighbor across the street.Only active network is the one I’ve been connected to all along.
The router’s address is 192.168.1.1, IP address: 192.168.1.136, iPhone. IP 192.168.4.108, RS250 IP: no IP address showing.
Netmask is a setting that basically tells your router, and everything connected to it, what is considered to be the same network. Settings look different on every router, but for most home networks it would be 255.255.255.0:

The usual 255.255.255.0 setting means that for two devices to be on the same network, only the last group of digits can be different. I.e. 192.168.1.x is one network that your router is serving up. 192.168.4…108 your iPhone is showing would be a completely different network then, and it won’t find Rose that you said previously had the 192.168.1.103 address. You’d need a 255.255.0.0 (or something very custom) netmask for them to be considered the same network
Do you have any VPN software or something else odd running on the iPhone?
@Fastracer88
It seems like all IPs connected to the router should be connected to 192.168.1.X.
If restarting the router doesn’t work, you may need to reset the router and check again.
You’re welcome!
@Fastracer88 do you know what kind of router Altice gave you? You might want to ask them why two devices apparently conne ted to the same MyAltice700255 network seem to be getting addresses on different subnets.
I will call them thank you.
