RA280 remote issue

Hi all,

I own a RA280 amplifier since a couple of weeks now. A lot of times, the IR remote of the RA280 does not respond to any button press. At first I though the battery that came from factory was almost dead, so I replaced it with a new one from Energizer.
The remote control still does not work correctly. After a hard power down, removing the mains, connecting it again, power up the amp… all works for a couple of seconds. Then 15 seconds later, it does not work at all, or VERY occasionally. Unplugging it again, repeats the same behavior.

When I look at the led with my smartphone camera, the IR led still blinks on every press on one of the 4 buttons so I don’t think there is something wrong with it …

Above the RA280 is an SA451, also new, no problems with the remote control on that one. Via the app on the smartphone, controlling the volume of both devices works fine…

Any idea what to do ? ( besides sending it back to my local store where I bought it ? )

First of all, issues related to IR remote reception are not common.
Please contact the distributor in the country where you purchased the RA280 and request a replacement remote control.

If the issue persists even with a new remote, it is likely that the IR receiver section of your RA280 will need to be inspected and repaired.
