RA280 volume level control adjustment

I’m using 97 db speakers and my normal volume on the RA 280 is at the 9 o’clock position so small changes in the volume knob change the volume a bit more than I would like. Is there a way in the Hifi Rose Connect app to adjust/attenuate the volume so that there is some more range?
If so would that reduce the sound quality in any way.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Since you are using highly sensitive 97 dB speakers, even a small adjustment of the RA280’s volume knob may result in a larger change in volume than desired.

Currently, the RoseConnect app does not provide a separate attenuation setting to reduce the overall output level of the RA280 and allow for a wider volume adjustment range.

The RA280 also does not currently provide a separate setting to reduce the gain or change the volume adjustment range through software.

OK thank you. Do you recommend using attenuators such as in line 6 db rca attenuators? Do you think attenuators would degrade the sound in any way if used?

Using a pair of 6 dB RCA inline attenuators could be a practical option for your setup.

By reducing the input signal level, the attenuators may allow you to turn the RA280’s volume knob further clockwise, giving you a wider and more comfortable adjustment range with your highly sensitive speakers.

Regarding sound quality, a well-designed, high-quality passive attenuator should generally have minimal impact on the audio signal. However, we cannot guarantee that there will be no audible difference, as the result may depend on the attenuator’s design, component quality, and impedance compatibility with your source device and amplifier.

Please also note that HiFi ROSE has not officially tested or verified any specific RCA inline attenuator for use with the RA280.

If you decide to try this option, we recommend choosing a reputable product with appropriate impedance specifications.
