RD160 1.56 dont start anytime

hi

my RD160 with firmware 1.56 dont start anytime. sometime i push the power on, it will blink the power on led permanently. i have to shut it down to push the power on, tilt it in standby. then i push it again, then it turn on.

i hear every day music and it do more often!

Hello,

When I turn it on directly, the 160 always starts up for me. When I use the carrier from my 151, it doesn’t start up about once a month (roughly). I then turn the 151 off and on again using the remote control. After that, it always works.

Greetings

@TheOne1894

It is not normal for the RD160 to fail to power on properly, regardless of the firmware version or whether you use the power button.

If the issue you described continues to occur, please contact the distributor in the country where you purchased your RD160 and ask them to inspect the unit.

I’m experiencing exactly the same problem with my RD160. Over the last few days, it has started happening more and more often. Sometimes the power LED just keeps blinking and the RD160 doesn’t start. I have to switch it off completely and then turn it on again before it starts normally.

Very frustrating!

@Philsisch
We are following up with a few additional questions to investigate the issue in more detail.

  1. Is your system version V 1.56?
  2. What are the primary input/output sources you use on your RD160?
  3. Roughly how frequently does this issue occur? Does it happen at least once every 10 times you turn it on?(*) Any detailed scenarios that help reproduce the issue would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, once we identify possible improvements after an internal review, we will post an update in the comments.

@Rose_love

Yes, my RD160 is running V1.56. However, I have been using V1.56 since April, so I currently do not associate the issue with this software version.

My RS130 is connected to the RD160 via I²S.
Regarding the frequency of the issue: In my last 10 attempts to turn the system on (first the RS130, then the RD160), the RD160 failed to start 3 times.

One additional detail may be relevant: A few weeks ago, I enabled “Testing the Sample Rate When Setting Up a DAC” in the RS130 settings. I have now disabled this function again. I will monitor the situation and see whether the problem occurs again.

I will report back with the results.

@ROSEHAN

I experienced the same boot issue today for the first time.
After pressing the power button, the power LED kept flashing rapidly for more than a minute instead of completing the normal boot sequence after a few seconds.
I switched the RD160 off with the power button and turned it back on. On the second attempt it started normally and has been working normally since.
Firmware: CPU: v1.51
MCU: v1.0.1
This is the first time I have experienced this issue.

I normally disconnect both of my HiFi Rose units completely from AC power when not in use, so the RD160 & RS130 perform a full cold boot every time I use it.

Update: The issue occurred several more times today. Until today I had never experienced this problem before. Sometimes the RD160 boots normally, while on other attempts the power LED continues flashing indefinitely and the unit does not complete startup. Once it successfully boots, the unit appears to operate normally.

@Magic
Could you please provide the details of the input/output sources connected to your RD 160?
Once you share this information, we will review it and get back to you.

@Rose_love

The RD160 currently has the following input sources connected:
HiFi Rose RS130 via SFP & USB
Sony CDP-X707ES via Coaxial S/PDIF
Sony MDS-JA555ES via Optical S/PDIF

The output is to a Kenwood L-1000C/M combo via XLR.
