RD160 variable output at volume 100 - what is the actual Vrms?

Hi everyone,

I’d be grateful if someone could please clarify one point about the RD160: in variable output mode, does volume 100 correspond to the unit’s full output voltage?

The manual mentions 1–100 volume and a separate 1V–9V Pre-Out Level mode, but I could not find a clear answer for variable mode at 100.

If anyone from HiFi Rose or the community knows the exact Vrms for XLR and RCA at volume 100, I’d really appreciate your help.

Thanks

In variable output mode, volume 100 corresponds to the unit’s maximum output level. In other words, it reaches the same full output voltage as the fixed Pre-Out setting.

The maximum output is:

  • RCA (unbalanced): 4.5 Vrms
  • XLR (balanced): 9 Vrms

Lower volume levels reduce the output proportionally from this maximum.

Please note that the RD160 can output a relatively high voltage, especially via XLR, so it is recommended to ensure your connected amplifier can handle this level.
