Reflection on my purchase - RS250

I have the RS250 and I use it as a streamer and bypass the DAC and use my RME ADI-2 FS DAC.

I have no issues with it in this configuration at all, I either use the touchscreen to select my music, or use the Rose App on my phone to get to my playlists and albums in Tidal. I very rarely use the Tidal App and ‘Airplay’ to my device.

The radio section gets used by me a lot during the daytime too, and I’m grateful that Rose have added any UK radio stations that I have requested.

I know that this is a great product. It was a shoot our between the Auralic Aries G1 and I was lucky enough to have both products on demo for a couple of weeks. The RS250 met my needs more than the Auralic, and as mentioned, I’m glad I bought this product.

Would I be happy if I was streaming my own music files though?

It saddens me to see the issues that other people are having, and I’m hoping that these frustrations aren’t putting people off this brand.

I don’t use Roon, but I tried it. it was disconcerting to go on the Roon forum and have to wade through all of the issues that people were having. It’s starting to feel a little bit like that Roon forum on here and I’m sending my best wishes that the Rose team can help you guys out…

Please keep in mind you are bound to see a lot of complaints about Roon because it has 250K+ users.
I don’t have any of the issues other people had when using Roon.

I have RS150 and Roon. Both of issues and weak spot but the upside is much greater. To be honest, it doesn’t really bother me. A few annoyance here and there but it does not come close to the joy I get from them. I can tell you that playing files through Roon sounds better than from Tidal or Qobuz app in the Rose unit. Give it a try.

Couple of things…

  1. Playing through Roon doesn’t sound better to me. I’ve tried it. My DAC is non-MQA and MQA is lossy. Fact.

  2. This post isn’t really about Roon, it’s about a brand that has launched and is having problems and people are frustrated. I’m sort of asking the public and Rose to have faith.

Your post does not have any information aside from referring to issues ‘other’ people are having. It would be good to be specific. The only specific you mentioned is about streaming with Roon and Tidal, so it was addressed. If that’s not the issue of this thread, why talk about it?
