Rose 150-B and Tidal Hi-Res FLAC

Tidal has updated to include 24 bit 192kHz Hi-Res FLAC in addition to maintaining MQA.

  1. When I look at my Tidal account on my PC and on my iPhone, I can see that the account is updated, and I can see that the streaming quality choice is selected to the new Max setting (replacing MQA). When I look at Rose settings, I can see that the account is up to date, but there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to select the streaming quality choice. Is the 150-B utilizing the new format?

  2. I have installed the SSD, and so Tidal albums are saved to the SSD when I play them, and played from the SSD when I replay them. Do I need to reset/erase these stored albums in order to listen to an album in the new Hi-Res FLAC? Said differently, when I play an album that’s on the SSD, will it always play in MQA if it was recorded in MQA, unless I reset/erase it?

I’m not exactly sure how this stuff works, hence the questions.

Thank you.

Tidal will need to provide new SDK to device manufacturers first (that hasn’t happened yet), and then Rose will need to rebuild the software. This will take a while.
