Hello, I have a question about volume control/passthrough, in my stereo system I’m also using a preamplifier and an amplifier, and I wanted to know how I can pass the volume control on my 150b, because don’t want to use the volume control on my 150b I want my preamp to do that. Right now, the way its setup is I have the 150b volume set to MAX volume and control my volume through my preamp, is that the best way to go about it, or is there another option in the 150b that I should be doing, thank you.
Doesn’t it have an option for “Fixed” analog output? 250 does so I would imagine a more expensive 150 would as well. Set it to fixed, select voltage that works best with your preamp, and it should give you what you want. Works very well with a 250 here.
I have an RS150B and use it with a preamp. You can disable the Software Volume Control in the IN-OUT Settings. That will provide a fixed level output for the analog outputs. Make sure you set the output level to a setting that matches your preamp levels.
Once you disable software volume control, the volume of the RS150B will no longer adjust the volume level.
Thanks for the response I found what your talking about in the OUTPUT settings, so there are 2 options I see the “Pre out level settings” and the “software volume control” a couple of questions though I’m using a Conrad Johnson PF-2 Preamp how do I find out what mV I need for my preamp I can select 100mV to 6500mV, and I’m not sure what the software volume control option does exactly, because I can turn it on of off and I still can more the volume on the 150b
The recommended input level for your preamp should be listed in the manual. I found that your preamp output level is 10V max, so the default Rose level is probably fine. If you don’t have access to the manual, compare the volume level of your various music sources. Try to match the sound levels by ear so that you don’t have to turn the volume on the preamp across sources (Rose, tuner, phono, etc.), if applicable.
I set the level to 5000mV on my system - I’m using balanced (XLR) connections.
The software volume level on the Rose acts as a software level control, but when disabled, you can still move the volume control but the loudness will not change.
