Rose as DLNA client (again)

Boris I’m talking about DLNA controller functionality (usually there is a choice of audio/video/pictures) not about Plex

Ah, that would be nice to have and VLC which is in some form included in the Rose software does have that… so it should be possible to add.

Rosehan,

I still can’t understand what the latest update added to DLNA. I know it wasn’t player - we had that already. There are only two other choices 1) player or 2) server. Which is it and how do you access it?

Thanks.

Using the DLNA program(ex: BubbleUpnp), It can be rendered with rose device.

Shim,

Thanks for your reply. I’m aware that Rose has always been a DLNA renderer (player). The NEW software update said functions were added to DLNA. Since there are only three functions (components) to a DLNA system 1) Controller 2) Database 3) Player. It had to be either 1 or 2 since we previously had the player. So what was added?

Just Controller but it’s not fully working . missing artist name on display and no capability to control from device and remote , ONLY with app can do it.

mcemsi,

OK, a controller was added. Great. How do I access it?

StandardModel

Music - Folder and then DLNA option:

arrows

EDIT: artist names are visible correct only when choosing All Music Playlist:

artistOKplaylist

but single songs are shown without artist tag:

no-artist

Asked here the support some years ago: Do you want to add openhome to the devices in the future?
The answer was harsh and clearly: No!

So using Rose devices with DLNA is senseless for me, because playing is not gapless.

Often I think about Hifi Rose software development: They want to cook their own soup, but don’t take care about their customers…

mcemsi,

Sorry to be so dense but when I go to my Rose Device RS520, I don’t see Network DLNA, Even though I have DLNA on and am using the Early Access. Where did you start? Are you in RoseConnect or your Rose streamer itself? Did you turn on more than smb?

Thanks.

5.9 Early Access? This is odd. 5.9 version introduces DLNA client(controller) feature and it should be available as you see above. Maybe you should try Official update.
