Rose Connect Version 5.9.15

Once again, the part-time student intern responsible for developing the software has struck. The bug affects both the Windows 11 and Mac 15.6 (24G84) versions.

  1. The search function in Music no longer works (here using Pink Floyd as an example).

  2. When I go to Music > Category > Artist, it finds Pink Floyd with 50 albums.

  3. When I select the artist, I get this view.

  4. And guess what happens when I click on Show All. Nothing.

Just when you had a version that allowed you to use your Rose RS201 reasonably well, an update comes along that renders everything obsolete again (one step forward, two steps back).

My guess is that quality management at Rose consists of another part-time student intern.

I’m slowly getting fed up, even though I’ve become very capable of suffering over the past four years when it comes to Rose software.

Dude, I never tire of seeing so many users with problems. You and I are no exception. I have an RS151, and the audio it provided was wonderful. I made the mistake of updating the latest software, and the audio I’m getting now is simply crap: flat, dull, dry, dull, lifeless.

Yes! How in the world does an “upgrade” degrade the audio so much. This true if the source is on local ssd, stream Qobuz, stream radio.

Apparently the new Firmware or new software makes the DAC chip work differently.

We’ve released version 5.9.16 to fix an issue preventing album searches. Please check for automatic updates.

One problem solved. The Show All option still doesn’t work.

Or as they say in German: Our solution, your problem.

We have reviewed the video you kindly sent us.
However, we have not yet been able to reproduce the same issue on our side. Please rest assured that we will continue to monitor and investigate this matter.

In the meantime, could you please check the following points:

  1. Does the issue also appear on the iOS or Android Rose Connect app?

  2. When searching the album in Rose Home > Search, does it also appear duplicated?

  3. After performing a data initialization (Settings > Media Library > initialization DB and then re-scan), does the same issue occur again?

Additionally, if you could email us the problematic album file(s) you are experiencing to the address below, it would be greatly helpful for our investigation:

@ROSEHAN
Hello, here are my answers to your questions.

  1. It works fine on the iPhone.
  2. That was my mistake; I had mounted a network share for testing purposes and forgot to eject it. Sorry.
  3. After data initialization the same error occurs again.
Please watch my video on this again. I selected Music on the left-hand side. The error occurs consistently with all search terms.
When I run the search function via Settings > Music, as shown in @shim’s screenshot, it works reproducibly.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot this error.
Frank

Thank you for your response.
The issue with the artist album not appearing, as shown in the video below, has been fixed.
Do you mean the issue of duplicate albums still occurs?
If there are any additional issues, please explain in detail and I will check again.

Hello @chim,
For the test, I first reinitialized the database. Rose-SW OS 5.9.07 (Official), Rose Connect Version 5.9.16. Tested on MacOS Sequoia and Win 11.

Please watch my video to see how I search for an artist’s albums.

As you can see, the error is still there. When I follow the steps in your video, it works.

As I already mentioned in my post to @rosehan, the error of the albums being displayed twice was my mistake, as I had integrated a network share in addition to the internal SSD.

The issue you mentioned has been fixed and will be implemented in the next version.
I’ll leave a comment when it’s released.
