I have a question about the Rose RS150. There are 2 different versions or images of the inside construction for the RS150 on the Internet. In one version the transformer is attached to the lid, in the other to the bottom. Which is the newer version? Thank you for a short feedback.
Dear Sir,
for Korea domestic product, the transformer is located on the bottom.
The reason for the difference arises from the difference in KC/CE certification. (Securing a safe distance from surrounding parts)As AK4499 of RS150 is discontinued, it is produced as RS150B model using ES9038PRO, and all transformer positions are located on the top.
Thanks,
Best Regards,

Thank you for your quick reply. When will the RS150B be available?
Do you think, it is worth to wait for the new ES9038pro DAC?
Is the new DAC an improvement over its predecessor AK4499 (sound-wise)?
Thank you for your efforts.
Dear Udo,
The RS150B is ready, and European shipments begin.
RS150B used femtoclock (CVHD-950) and ES9038PRO, and this configuration is the same as Mytek Manhattan 2 DAC.
The sound quality is more rich and clearer than the AK4499.
(According to a South Korea music critic)
Thanks,
Best Regards,
I bought my RS150 in mid-March 2021 (only since then in Switzerland) from a Swiss dealer. Now the RS150B is coming out. Is there a conversion or an exchange for the customer? Why is the RS150 no longer in production?
We can no longer get AK4499, so we apply ES9038PRO.
So, the model name has been changed to distinguish between AK4499 and ES9038 applied products.
There are currently no plans to change the DAC for existing customers.
RS150 and RS150B differ only in DAC, everything is the same.
Do you prefer ES9038PRO over AK4499?
thank you very much for the information.
I switched from an Auralic Aries G2 to the Rose RS150. The touchscreen of the RS150 is awesome. Unfortunately, I find the sound of the RS150 too cold (Alalog output). That’s why I use the USB output.
The DAC on my McIntosh MA9000 converts the signal. This makes the sound more pleasant.
I’ve heard the DAC ES9038Pro on other devices, they are not that cold.
I would like to use the DAC of the RS150. The McIntosh DAC does not have the same performance as the AK4499 or ES9038Pro.
(With the Auralic Aries it is possible to adjust the sound with 4 filter levels PRECISE, DYNAMIC, BALANCE, SMOOTH)
Maybe a multiple filter could also be used with the Rose?
When is that upgrade expected to be available? Is it a software or a hardware upgrade? Will there be an upgrade path for current owners of RS150 or will I have to replace my current unit?
Great work to ‘All at Rose’ it is interesting to see such a visionary product launched, others are sure to follow your fine example. It is an aspiration for me to own such a device. I must save harder!
Hopefully, I will own one one day, good luck and excellent work dealing with the DAC chip change due to the very sad AK semiconductor factory fire.
I look forward to hearing of developments with your products.
I have to add something here.
RS150 and RS201E sound everything but cold.
I had McIntosh integrated with DAC1 an DAC2 and none of them is not even close sound-wise to Rose. Furthermore, McIntosh DA converters are not only bad sounding. They are there just for specification reason so McIntosh can say they got 17 (?!) inputs on their integrated. My integrated amps (Luxman, Unison Research, Soneteer got 3-5 + phono).
I believe there is some other problem if your RS150 is “cold”. It literally blew away any DAC in my possession to the level I sold everything else.
