RoseTube not playing videos that are live on YouTube

I can generally reproduce a symptom on my 150 B hardware.

I’ll play a rose tube video, perhaps an hour and a half in length and then when I go to play other rose tube videos, none of them will play stating an error to the effect“ a video cannot be played at this time. Please try again later”.

What is happening that causes this? It’s extremely frustrating, especially when I’m trying to present videos to friends who come over and we’re going through several videos.

I’ve powered off the hardware, closed the app, but nothing works. I have to wait, I don’t know how long, perhaps an hour just basically go on with my day and then come back to the rose 150 B, and then my search for Rose tube videos works again.

I’m seeing this more and more so it’s time I write the community to try and sort out what’s causing this.

The videos that do not play can be played in the regular YouTube app so it’s not like it’s an old cache or something on the YouTube side, as far as I can tell.

Appreciate any help troubleshooting this and let me know if there’s anything you need me to do to try and prevent this from happening.

Thanks

Same here. I fixed it by deleting the Rosetube app and reinstalling it again, but I wonder for how long.

By ’live on YouTube’ you mean they are working on YouTube I guess. Not videos of live events.

Yes, exactly. Meaning that if you go to YouTube itself in the YouTube app or in a browser, all the videos are working there. Just not in the RoseTube.

I also see an earlier thread I posted, and I believe there are some hi-fi rose eyeballs on it.

As you’ll see in my other thread, deleting the app and reinstalling doesn’t fix the issue. I just tested that last night. I have to wait a few hours, I would say, and come back to the rose 150 B and the videos can play again.

Very random and not easy to reproduce, but the general issue seems to stem around watching a rosetube video for an hour or more and then attempting to search and play any other rosetube located video. That’s when I can usually reproduce the issue.

Here’s that thread: RoseTube flakiness

@taystnotes

RoseTube and YouTube are not exactly the same.
We developed RoseTube based on the API that YouTube publicly supports.
If YouTube makes any modifications or changes, RoseTube may not run smoothly.
In this case, you can resolve this by going to the Rose Store on your Rose device and reinstalling the RoseTube app.

@ROSEHAN I have made a video for you to show that this solution is not the fix and that a different reason must at play here, causing a regularly disruptive experience for hiFi Rose customers like myself.

Detailed reproduction of RoseTube playback issue

Please review and provide next steps to resolve with your team of developers. This issue is repeatable and is happening now more than ever during the last 2 months or so.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Play a RoseTube video that lasts at least 1 to 1.5 hours. Perform pauses, go back, go forward in the video at random places but let video finish for at least a 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Perform a new search and attempt to play any of those search results

Temporary workaround: Wait at least 1 to 1.5 hours before attempting to play any RoseTube videos. Video will start playing again until the above instructions are again performed.

thank you

@ROSEHAN Sadly, the RoseTube issue is not fixed with the new 5.9 release.

I am also able to reproduce the issue with an additional set of steps detailed in this video:

RoseTube playback issue; post 5.9 update

Please provide next steps. Re-installing RoseTube does not fix issue and has been noted by others on this forum.

Thank you

@taystnotes

I checked the video you sent me.
I forwarded the video to the software team.
They said they will fix the issue and release an update as soon as possible.
