Rosetube: RS 520 - HDMI function is not ready for use

Hi,

I own the RS520.
When I start Rosetube, I can play videos on the RS520 display, works fine, also sound. I connected a new Samsung TV (eARC) which is connected with the correct cable to the RS520 in the eARC port. eARC function works well. When I click on Display off on the RS when using Rosetube, I expect the video toggles from the RS to the TV. But I see on the RS display the following message instead of:

The HDMI function is not ready for use. Please check the HDMI connection status.

No picture on TV. I just setup the RS which is new. I also tried using the HDMI output instead of the eARC output on the RS, that does not work either. Basically, I connect eARC on the RS with eARC on the TV. No success.

Please help!

Thank you.

Hello GR,

Have you already looked at the HDMI settings on your television or smart TV? It must also be set on a smart TV. The same applies to the Rose 520. Go to the input and output settings (HDMI) small gear wheel⚙️…Check whether everything is set correctly. I have connected my LG OLED TV to the normal HDMI on the TV and the HDMI output on the 520 If I want to watch a video from Rose Tube, A
I just activate TV and the picture on the TV is visible. The sound naturally comes through my RS 520 U
and the speakers connected to it. I forgot something:

Of course, the sound also has to go to the Rose 520 and since my LG OLED TV only has a Toslink cable output for the sound, I also pulled a Toslink cable from the TV to the Rose. If you now watch a film on the TV and want to hear the sound on the Rose, you obviously have to select Digital in (fiber optic input) in the input and output settings.I hope I was able to help a little.:v:t2:

Addendum:

As you know, every modern smart TV has several HDMI inputs. Make sure that the correct HDMI input on your TV is switched on with the TV remote control where the Rose 520 is connected. My smart TV has four HDMI inputs, one of which is eARC where my Apple TV streaming box is connected. The Rose RS520 is connected to another HDMI. You have to select this beforehand with the TV remote control on your TV. You will certainly know all this. I hope you are successful because everything works so smoothly for me too.

Have a nice evening.:v:t2:

Hi Bonte,
Thanks for your reply. I use eARC on the RS and TV (one of the HDMI inputs). I use Tidal but I don’t like the Rose Tidal too much. Therefore, I stream the original Tidal App to the TV and via eARC to the Rose amplifier (then I set the RS on eARC in the settings). That works very well. So, eARC goes in 2 directions and I would assume, Rosetube should stream also to the TV. Of course I tried the other HDMI sockets on both devices, none of them works. I am in the dark.

You’re right: eARC stands for Audio Return Channel and should work in both directions. Have you already checked the settings on Tidal? Otherwise, people with more experience than me in terms of paid streaming will get in touch. In addition, the people at Rose usually respond very quickly (wait for the time difference). As I said, check the settings on Tidal again.:v:t2:

I have a Tidal account I pay for. I don’t understand why I should check the settings. Tidal works fine (original Tidal App, as well as the Rose Tidal App). I prefer the original Tidal app. My problem is Rosetube on TV. Where can I contact Rose directly? - Thanks

There are many people in the chat who really know a lot! One that I prefer, and who I think also shines with technical knowledge, is Boris. Write to Boris because he works with Roon, the management software, and its own core. You will certainly know them. Boris can definitely give you competent information about your problem. If your device is not defective, I would say that everything can be clarified here in the chat… especially since the experts from Rose will be giving their statement tomorrow.

.

Well, I’m actually the kind of guy who doesn’t rely on other people! There’s so much being said and done these days and if I can and I have the technical knowledge or have read up on it, I check everything myself and for me, everything I use (Tidal) should be checked. But as I said, that’s what I do. Wait for the people who really have the technical understanding. I don’t use these paid music services at all. I make my own music on my internal hard drive. I stream a bit of HiRes radio… yes, and I’m quite happy with that. The 520 has a nice sound, which is certainly also due to the DAC. And as I said, a lot of people will read the new entries in this forum tomorrow and will certainly answer your questions. I know you’re not happy now, but time will tell! I hope you have a nice evening.:+1:t2:

@Bonte @GR-Rose

RS520 has two HDMI ports.
One is marked EARC in and the other is marked HDMI.

If you want to play Rosetube on your RS520 and watch Rosetube video on your TV, you must connect a cable to the HDMI port on the rear of the RS520 and the HDMI port on the TV.

If you want to listen to the sound of the video played on the TV through RS520, you must connect a cable to the EARC out port on the TV and the EARC IN port on the RS520. And finally, you need to select earc in as input in the input/output settings for RS520.
