Trying to figure out the best config using the 520 and 180. Would like to run the preamp outs to the 180 and use the 520 amp/speaker outputs to power additional speakers in another room.
I’ve had problems with running the 180 in bypass mode. Ideally would like to control volume from the 520. Assuming I can run the 520 in variable mode and also use the volume control on the 180.
Appreciate any feedback and best practices.

I do not recommend that you use it in bypass mode.
You can use it as a basic mode to control the volume on two devices, RS520 and RA180.
When using bypass mode, the sound quality is poor and the best way is to fix the volume on RS520 and adjust the volume on RA180.
Ok. When I did try using the bypass mode, it did not sound good. Plus there was noticeable noise at lower volume.
Does using the volume on the 520 and also the 180 induce any noise? Seems like it could affect the sound quality.

No, even if you adjust the volume on RS520 and RA180, the sound quality will be slightly affected. As I said above, I recommend fixing the volume on RS520 and adjusting the volume on RA180.
Looks like I can set the pre-outs to 600mv with the 180 and still use the speakers outputs with volume control.
I’ll see how this sounds/works…
