When connecting via Ethernet cable (I tried 3 different cables) to the Zyxel modem, the DHCP server did not assign an IP address - everything in the table is just zeros, only the MAC address is filled in. The Ethernet port blinks normally. Only the WI-FI works - the connection is normal there.
The MAC address is assigned by the manufacturer at the time the board is built. Its unique to that specific part. So you’ll always have a MAC address if the card is functioning.
Did you switch the Rose to use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi? Its either one or the other. So if your Wi-Fi is on… the Ethernet is not.
(Note: You may already know this… but not sure how technical you are… there’s a wide audience of users.)
Hello. I know that you can’t run Wi-Fi and Ethernet at the same time. When trying to connect to Ethernet, Wi-Fi is turned off. In the subsequent Ethernet connection settings, I select the DHCP option and zeros are displayed everywhere (except for the MAC address). If I give the option manual and write the IP, gateway and all other connection attributes, the connection doesn’t work - it doesn’t reach the Internet.
There could be a couple of reasons for that.
Not a fan of Zyxel… not really a secure access point.
I’d start there.
If you manually set up the connection, you could try by pinging the device.
Would be nice if you’d specify what you are connecting to. IIRC ZyXEL hasn’t made modems in ages. Are you even conecting to the same device with WiFi and Ethernet?
You really should stick to that used DLink you found in the garbage and not get involved with anything sufficiently advanced.
Boris
I don’t use DLink.
I use commercial grade products.
I just let my Cisco Meraki license lapse because my fiber modem’s wi-fi works well enough.
Most everything is wired w a few exceptions.

Reading something on the back of a cereal box isn’t the same as “using commercial grade.”
Truth hurts, mikey, but you could try saying something useful instead of suggesting that home users install enterprise grade gear they absolutely do not need.
AH Boris same old Boris…
When you’ve spent time owning the P&L for a LoB give me a call.
I ain’t got a time machine to go back to when you were in diapers (not that you’ve outgrown them yet). And that smell!!..
Poor Boris.
I see that you never outgrew your use of diapers from youth to old age.
Why don’t you keep on topic.
Why don’t you share what you use for your access point.
Your talent for projection is the only thing you are good at. Too bad your mom still has to deal with diapers…
The relevant question is what OP is using as a router, and whether it’s the same device he connects to over WiFi vs. Ethernet.
Wonderful…
I don’t understand why there are so many problems with home internet here!
I’ve had well over 10 routers (AVM Fritz!Boxes). Never had any problems. On January 12, 2026, the final work (splicing the fiber optic cable) will be completed in my apartment. The OTO socket is installed, and the fiber optic cable is coiled up in my living room. Then, if I want, I can sign a fiber optic internet contract and even keep my new FRITZ!Box 7690 DSL router. The only thing I’d need then is an ONT (Optical Network Termination), and then a CAT 6e or 8 cable from the ONT to the router. Since my box has a WAN port, that will be used. Or I could invest again and buy a Fiber Box from AVM with WiFi 7.
So, everything’s working perfectly for me
, it just all has to be paid for
, like everywhere else.
Poor Boris.
Sitting Mommy’s basement playing the role of internet bully.
C’mon Boris tell us all about your fabulous home network prowess.
Don’t pretend you would, or could, understand anything about it.
You see Boris, that’s your go to strategy.
When you can’t answer the question… you attempt to bluff your way out of it.
Boris, I’ve been playing w computers since '78. Working professionally since '84. (Actually fall of '83)
I’ve forgotten more about programming that you’ve ever learned.
So c’mon answer the question… Tell us all about your home network configuration.
It’s… a programmer!.. It’s a manager!.. It’s a network engineer!.. It’s… Smegmel Der Schwul!!!
That’s only because you are too ignorant to even ask a correct question.
And still playing, I see.
Vacuuming the server closet might be a professional work, but not the kind that implies any computing experience.
Should be easy, since you’ve never knew anything about it in the first place.
For someone who is wrong in literally everything he says you are quite self-assured, for no good reason, but it only makes you a comic relief here.
