RS-520 Spotify equalizer workaround via TV

@Kjetil-A

My explanation wasn’t enough.
The EQ function is not supported when using eARC in (digital input).
Currently, the above error message occurs when the EQ function is not used when playing eARC in or DSD sound sources on the Rose device.
In the next update, we will divide this message into two parts and modify it so that a message indicating that the EQ function is not supported appears when using eARC in.

@ROSEHAN
Hi, and thanks.
But why have you taken away this function? It worked before. And I am not playing any dsd trough eARC, only PCM.

I’m getting the same error message on optical too.

@ROSEHAN - It’s bin a while. Got to look at my last post and question above yet?

And do you have any news about Spotify and EQ?

That’s exactly how it is.

@Kjetil-A

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

We are continuing to check for this issue, but we are not experiencing the same symptoms as you.

As a result of confirmation, it is normal to play in PCM when RS520 is connected to the TV via EARC or optical.

@ROSEHAN - can you explain what you are experiencing?

I have also downloaded the EA, and in this version I’m getting this message when trying to access the EQ in e-arc:

In fact, I’m getting this message on all the source in channels:

  • OPT IN
  • LINE IN L+R
  • USB IN
  • COAX IN
  • eARC

@Kjetil-A

Rose device–>Settings–>System info–>System version info
If it is an EA version other than 4.19 (official), scroll down and change the Rose device version to 4.19 and check if the same symptom appears.

@ROSEHAN
Changed to 4.19, and the symptoms are the same:

Two questions to this:

  1. Why have you taken away EQ on e-arc? It worked before
  2. Why do I get the message on every other input too?

The eq is now kind of useless when it only works with tidal, qobuz and rosetube. Can you please make it work on input sources too (included e-arc) and spotify connect? It is strange if I have to buy a seperate EQ and a power amp, and put the eq between my RS520 and the power amp just to get the functionality you are claiming that the hifirose have (eq functionality).

@Kjetil-A
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I have forwarded your two questions to the software team.

Currently, when using the EQ function with the earc in, it works, but there is a problem where it is automatically deactivated when activated. This issue will be fixed in the future.

The part where pop-up messages appear will also be modified.

Hi, and thanks.
Could you also please add EQ on spotify soon as well, so that I can use the 520 as intended? Other devices have no issues with EQ on spotify connect.

@Kjetil-A

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
We will work quickly to add this feature again as soon as possible.

Hi,
So you will add EQ on Spotify too?

@Kjetil-A

Yes, according to the answer I have received so far.

Great! That is good news. Thanks! :grinning:

Do you have any idea what the e.t.a would be? Could you push it out as an EA update?

@Kjetil-A

I was informed that this feature is included in both the Office and EA versions.

The update 5.7.05 does not seem to have the equalizer function for spotify, correct? Is it still the plan to include it in te future? Would be very much appreciated.

@Jurjen

From the beginning, we did not support an equalizer when using Spotify.
We tried to add this feature because there were requests for it, but it wasn’t easy.

I will once again request the software team to add that feature.
