RS130: Copying music files from external drive to internal SSD

The RS130 manual has instructions for transferring music files from a NAS to the internal SSD but not from a USB drive. Does anyone have experience with this?

Have you tried the file manager application? It seems to me that it is made for this.

Music sources in NAS cannot be copied to SSD or USB external hard drive.

To move music sources in NAS to SSD or USB external hard drive, copy via SMB.

Please check the video below and reconnect your Rose device and PC via network.

OK, so I downloaded File Manager, formatted the SSD as instructed and copied my music files from an external hard drive onto the internal SSD. All of the music was copied into appropriate folders. I performed the scan of the database.

I assumed at this point that I should be able to listen to the music. Unfortunately for me that was not the case. If I open an album and press the forward arrow in the circle, nothing happens. If I press shuffle, nothing happens. If I press an individual song it plays but then when it finishes it plays a random song from a playlist that I did not even generate.

If I use the Rose app the same thing happens.

If I access the same files that reside on my NAS, I believe I am getting full functionality of album play. I am not really sure what is going on. Does anyone have suggestions?

I am beginning to find this device, while purporting to do everything I want from a network streaming transport, is unnecessarily complex and/or the software has not yet been sorted out. Heck, I am not even clear as to why File Manager needs to be downloaded and is not part of the base OS.

Thank you.

Here are some things to check.

  1. Please tell me the version information of your RS130.
    RS130–>Settings–>System info -->System version info

  2. Are you using a RoseConnect app that is compatible with RS130?

  3. Are you unable to play all tracks in an album through RoseConnect app?
The forward arrow in the circle is the button to play all tracks in an album.

  4. Are you unable to play all tracks when you enter an album on RS130 instead of RoseConnect app and press the play all button?

  5. Please tell me the model name of your device where your RoseConnect app is installed.

  6. If you want to play all the tracks in the album through the RoseConnect app, press the 3 dot menu button on the right side of the first track in the album, press “Play from here” and press OK button.

  1. System Version 5.9 (Official)

  2. I am using the Rose Connect Premium App Version 5.9.05

  3. Neither the forward arrow nor the shuffle arrow on the app cause music to play. If I press the forward arrow the first song on the album comes up but does not play.

  4. Similar to the app, when I hit the forward button or the shuffle button on the unit itself the album does not play

  5. The Rose Connect app is installed on an iPad mini Gen 6, iOS version 18.5

  6. Your suggestion did in fact work and I am able to play an album from beginning to end by tapping the three dots on the right side of track one and instructing it to play from here. This was the most progress I made all day on getting the internal SSD to behave in a usable fashion. Unconventional, but it worked.

I hope this information helps you troubleshoot and get the arrow keys to function. Thank you.

If only one song is played when you press the forward arrow button, check if the settings are as follows:

Rose device–>Settings–>Audio settings–>Music playback options–>Add a song to listen to right away

Mr. Han,

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate.

What I said in lines 3 and 4 was that when I press the forward arrow nothing happens.

I am struggling to find anything that the RS130 does correctly other than look good. It is a well-built piece for sure, and unique in that it purported to do everything that I wanted it to do. And yet I have found that everything I have tried so far is problematic.

Is there a technical support department at Rose or Mo-Fi with whom I can speak because this is beginning to be maddening.

Thank you.

@Eleven

Here are a few things to check:

  1. Please take a picture of the forward arrow button you are talking about and share it with me.
  2. If only one song is played when you press the forward arrow button, check if the settings are as follows:
Rose device–>Settings–>Audio settings–>Music playback options–>Add a song to listen to right away
  3. When you play all songs on your Rose device, do all songs in the album not play?

Thank you. I believe I have resolved the problem. I am not a playlist person, I listen to albums from start to finish.

When I access albums on my library on SSD through the Folder View, the play all feature (forward arrow in circle on the unit) does not work. However when I access the album through Artist View or Album View everything plays just fine. In the future I will access my music library through Album View.

I consider this case closed.
