RS130 doesn't recognize the USB Hub 720 after sleep

It’s a known bug to many RS130 users that the device doesn’t recognize some DAC via the USB Hub 720.
I am lucky that I don’t have the issue.

However, after the first three honey-moon weeks with the RS130+720, the RS130 started not seeing the USB Hub after switching back ON from standby in every few days. In other words, no DAC is detected.

Most of the time, I have to reboot the RS130 so that it can recognize the USB Hub, ie. the DAC again.

I have upgraded the USB Hub with the latest firmware provided by HiFi Rose. The issue still exists in every few days.

I am pretty sure that the RS130 doesn’t recognize the USB Hub (not the DAC) after resuming from sleep, because it doesn’t see the USB drive plugged to the Hub as well.

After rebooting, everything comes back to normal again. So strange.

Does any of you RS130 + 720 users encounter the similar situation ? Any advice ? @ROSEHAN

BTW, do you guys switch your RS130 and DAC to standby after use ? or keep them ON all the time ?

I have the same issue. @ROSEHAN

Surprisingly , when my RS130 went in for repair the one I borrowed from my awesome dealer didn’t have this issue. Hifi Rose has hinted they might have another firmware coming. Rosehan can confirm.

Not surprised that I am not the only one. Not really understand what happened since the RS130+720 works perfectly in the first three weeks. Anyway, hope that firmware to come soon.

@HMANAZ @TomT

We have a firmware file that improves compatibility when connecting a DAC to the RSA720 while the RSA720 and RS130 are connected.
If you want the firmware file, please request the firmware file to the email below.
eunseong96@citech.kr

It looks like the version sent v82.0.42.0 is the same firmware I was sent back in May.

I’m still experiencing issues needing me to reboot DAC RS130.

Any newer firmware coming?

Thank you Rosehan. Got the firmware you sent to me by email earlier.
It is the same firmware I updated already.
Unfortunately, the issue isn’t fixed.

Dear Hi-Fi Rose users

Currently, no firmware has been developed for the issue other than the firmware I delivered.
I will forward the information to the software team again.

Noted and thank you.

I have this problem after connect rs130 to rs720 through usb fiber. Then weiss dac through usb from rs720

Regarding the issue: RS130 doesn’t recognize the USB Hub 720 after sleep, here’s how I solved it:

NOTE 1: My Eversolo DAC-Z8 has a function to go to sleep in a pre-defined period of time – 5, 10 or 15 mins. I set it to 5 mins.

  1. When I finish my listening session, I’ll wait until the last song plays to the end completely (don’t stop in the middle).

  2. Then I’ll turn OFF the Amplifier BUT leave the RS130 and the DAC continuously ON.

  3. Wait until the DAC go to sleep in about 5 mins, I’ll further turn OFF the RS130.

With such powering off procedure, I no longer encounter the issue anymore.

NOTE 2: If the DAC is powered OFF when a music is stopped in the middle, an error message is very likely popped up saying the DAC is not found.

@Bicycle can you detail your connection chain maybe even a picture? Specifically, what ports have you tried and were you successful in updating the firmware?

Damn … the hifi rose software team really need to step it up … customers shouldn’t have to so much suffer

Rs130 → rsa720 by SFP

rsa720–> weiss dac204 by USB galileo synergistic research

NO DAC FOUND EVERY TIME

IM SO FRUSTRATED

You can see my connection setup in my other post.

I have a number of USB cables, which have no problem when connecting my DAC to the RS130’s USB audio port.

However, in the DAC to 720 setup, a few of them become incompatible, meaning the DAC couldn’t be found by the 130 when pairing with these USB cables.

Currently, I am using the USB cable coming with the RSA780 CD drive. I tried it with the DAC204 I borrowed before. They work together perfectly.

Worth a try with other USB cables (even cheap one) to see if it is the cause or not.

I’m using Synergistic research galileo USB from RS130 to Weiss 204 with no problem . It’s only when I add the RSA720 so I don’t think cable is problem. Something wrong with RSA720.

Like I said, those “incompatible” USB cables I used were working with no problem in DAC-to-RS130 setup. They become “incompatible” ONLY when I used them in the DAC-to-720 connection.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks Tom. I understand.
