Is it true all HiFI Rose products are Stereo Only even on the HDMI port?
RS130
1 HDMI OUT is Video only, to be used with RoseTube.
1 I2S HDMI OUT for Audio to a DAC (2.0 only).
@ROSEHAN can you pls confirm?
The RS130 sends both audio and video, however, you have to switch to HDMI output. Video is sent along with HDMI when on another outputs.
I would also like the answer to getting MCH files to play, for now I am using my OPPO for this.
@joyofmvid another reason to use Roon > Rose. Roon streams MC to my receiver over HDMI up to 7.1 PCM.
It bypasses HD audio formats such as surround sound sources to audio receiver through HDMI without decoding.
@ROSEHAN
Do you mean, RS130 “bitstreams” 5.2 & 5.2.4 music on HDMI port. If so, that would be perfect for me.
EDIT on Jan 20, 2025:
I found thhe answer at Playing .mkv files from an rs130 - #7 by HMANAZ
RS130 Bitstream’s 5.1 & 5.1.4 audio
I’m now a happy puppy!
So @ROSEHAN, Rose devices do support multichannel? Now I am confused, @joyofmvid that was my message. I am seeing conflicting info, still unable to get pass-through to work. I have MKV multichannel files I wish to pass through to my oppo players HDMI in. If I play them from Rose, I only get Stereo over HDMI with pass-through enabled. If I play them from my Oppo (terrible UI) I get MCH.
@ROSEHAN
I don’t expect RS130 to decode multichannel audio but does the RS130 passthrough (i.e., bitstream) 5.1 and 5.2.4 audio to the receiver? If no, then what does HDMI Passthrough do?
Re: Output Settings —> HDMI —> HDMI Passthrough = ON
The manual states:
Thus, the manual states the RS130 bitstreams 5.1 and 5.2.4 audio to the receiver.
@ROSEHAN Please confirm surround sound and 3D sound is bitstreamed - only your confirmation will stop the confusion in various posts!
Here is my connection chain and experience trying to play MCH files from the rose.
MKV MCH file on Rose → HDMI out → Oppo 203 HDMI in → ONLY PLAYS STEREO (with HDMI Pass-through enabled)
MKV MCH File on Oppo 203 → Plays MCH
Can someone please explain how the passthrough should work to
Do this
AFAIK, Regarding HDMI Passthrough, click the following cyberlink’s right-most down-arrow:
RS130 HDMI Port:
-
When RS130’s HDMI is connected directly on a TV, both video & stereo audio is output ← in this case, my AVM 90 prepro needs to capture the audio via the TV’s eArc
-
When RS130’s HDMI is connected on my AVM 90, again both the video & stereo audio is output
- the AVM 90 sends the received HDMI video portion to the TV (via the AVM 90’s HDMI eArc output port) and the received HDMI audio portion is processed, by the AVM 90, as a standard bitstreamed digital audio signal
