Can you please state what the dsd resolution is that reaches your dac when choosing the highest available option (higher than dsd64, if possible)?
To be sure, only using I2S, here.
Strange I don’t have this DSD option with my RS130
Tried both usb and i2s
Do I have to restart Roon Rock after changing anything?
I’ve managed to get Roon working with the upsampling.
In the Rose RS130 menu the slider convert DSD to PCM was on
But now still one issue, with usb connection I can upsample to dsd512 but with i2s the only option is dsd64 and it’s greyed out so can’t click it
Any ideas why I can’t select dsd256 or higher with i2s??
@ROSEHAN: can you please step in and enlighten us on what’s going on in our cases and if there are any steps that can be taken on behalf of Rose and/or Roon or otherwise, please?
Guys check your phase as well. I am having the same issue as you but with one additional issue. If I play Jingo by Santana the opening should be most if not all coming from the right speaker with PCM. This is how the track is supposed to sound but when playing with Native DSD set to on and either playing the track as native DSD or converted with Roon the track starts on the left speaker not the right. So the speakers become flipped, left is right and right is left. This is the case over USB and i2s. Odd. Something is going on with the DSD transport with the RS130.
Hi @Duffer5, I did test it with this song but drums start at the right both with or without oversampling
This is an issue for me strictly with Native DSD. Was your test Native DSD. Thanks for testing.
Yes, it is with native DSD and a Holo May KTE DAC connected by usb
When connected by i2s I can’t play DSD at all.
Still figuring out why not
Same for me over i2s and DSD. I think it is a RS130 thing.
In Roon I can choose for DSD but then only see DSD64 greyed out so impossible to select anything and no sound however
Same for me. Not sure how to resolve.
Dsd64 should be doable in Roon with I2S and with native dsd, or DoP set on the Rose. That works for me, at least.
Well, glad I’m not the only one with this problem.
Let’s wait for an answer from HiFi Rose
I2S should be able to do DSD in native mode but there also is no gear icon in the I2S section like in the usb to choose your DSD option
For those gear options, you’ll need to select the gear symbol in the AES/coax/opt section.
Still, it would be better for Rose to either combine that section with I2S, or add a gear option in the I2S section. Besides that, that gear option needs to be expanded to make full use of I2S capabilities. Thus, putting I2S on par with USB, like it should.
No doubt, Roon will then also play flawlessly.
Well, in this section Native DSD is selected but still no option to choose DSD options in Roon
I can select DSD but no sound is produced
Only way everything works is with USB
@ROSEHAN Can you give any advice in which settings we have to enable or disable to get i2s work with Roon on our RS130?
With USB everything works fine but when select upsampling in Roon with i2s connection there is no sound output
You are able to select DSD but in the DSD menu there is only DSD64 greyed out and you can’t open this select box
“Doctor, it hurts when I do that.”
“Then, don’t do that.”
Calling on @ROSEHAN to respond on mentioned issues.
Today I’ve been over at my PS Audio distributor to check on the I2S DSD256 issue. Well, we can exclude one device: it’s not the dac. Using the Rose app, JRiver and an alternative streamer (the PS Audio Airlens, with JRiver and Roon), they all played DSD256 flawlessly. But playing these files through Roon through the Rose. over the I2S cable to the dac, there was that downsampling to DSD64 again!
Therefore, the issue lies with either Rose or Roon, or both. Given the RS130 is an upmarket product, this issue is something that needs to be fixed and in short term.
Could you please check if something has been overseen during the certification process and take appropriate steps to resolve this?
Kindly calling once more on @ROSEHAN (or perhaps @ROSELOA) to respond on above mentioned issues and preferably provide solutions.
In case you require more information, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
BTW, as this issue may have to do how Roon and the RS130 interact, I’ve also posted the issue on Roon support under:
Currently awaiting response as well…
Edit: on the Roon forum, someone suggested it will require a concise exchange of I2S specifications table with Roon software. If so, it’s a simple case of a software update to sort this out. I’m not quite sure, if only on the side of Rose, or also on Roon’s.
@ROSEHAN or @ROSELOA: can you please look into this and report back?
Edit 2 (another suggestion from the Roon forum):
It’s the manufacturers RAAT implementation generally. Roon just acts on what it gets back from any device.
