Than your DAC (like the most) doesn’t supports DSD512 as DoP (here 1536 MHz PCM is needed)
For my Holo Audio May it’s no problem.
In that case I’m happy to own a Holo May KTE also
Just finished setting up a Roon Rock NUC and all is working fine.
Just wondering, when using Rose app the display says Flac while using Roon the display says pcm
Is this normal? I did read somewhere Roon converts all to pcm
On the Rose, my software volume control is set to off and I don’t see ways to upsample dsd. In Roon, only pcm is shown (32-192). The dac (PS Audio perfectwave MK2) supports up to dsd256 (verified), but not in Roon: dsd256 gets downsampled to dsd64.
Any suggestion to find helpful settings to benefit from the full resolution of my dac in Roon is much appreciated!
When playing through Roon, my Rose display mentions PCM, as does the Rose app. What’s your original file format, please?
BTW, flac is not different from PCM, it’s a lossless compression container (in this case for PCM encoded musical files).
Just read Roon always is pcm.
At my DACs display it gives the right figures.
My DAC goes up to 1024 DSD
You need to go to the settings of the RS130 audio in Roon go to DSP and enable upsampling PCM to DSD
This is from the PC app. After selecting the RS130 for audio ouput, you click on the Audio button then choose the 3rd button which is the DSP
Native DSD 512 works 100% with Roon and via Rose_Connect App!
Wichtig: i2s-Kabel von ROSE RS 130 bis DAC max. Länge < 50 cm, z.B. Tubulus Concentus
Possible USB 2.0 OUT zu einem DDC und dann via i2s (max. 50 cm) to the DAC…
I have my Rose 130 connected via short i2s cable to my Holo May KTE R2R DAC but don’t see the DSD option in Roon Muse
Thank you. My USB connection is also working with dsd256 (the maximum rate of my dac). The issue appears when switching to I2S. The Rose is putting out dsd256, my dac is receiving it, but can’t resync on the data rate. Both on the Rose and in Roon, I’ve set the 500 msec delay after start of a song.
I have an AQ Dragon 48 0.6 m I2S cable, so that should be fine. Comparing with a longer hdmi cable produces the same result, if that says anything.
With these findings, I believe it’s time to call in the manufacturer of the dac.
Edit: on second thought, there may also be something going on between Rose and Roon. The fact that Rose doesn’t provide additional settings to their app after the Roon certification may indicate such. The RAAT protocol isn’t quite the same as a regular straightforward transfer of the original file to the dac.
When selecting the usb input, I’m Indeed able to select upsampling. Then, things work.
Still, my goal is to have things work alike through the I2S route.
Can you please state what the dsd resolution is that reaches your dac when choosing the highest available option (higher than dsd64, if possible)?
To be sure, only using I2S, here.
Strange I don’t have this DSD option with my RS130
Tried both usb and i2s
Do I have to restart Roon Rock after changing anything?
I’ve managed to get Roon working with the upsampling.
In the Rose RS130 menu the slider convert DSD to PCM was on
But now still one issue, with usb connection I can upsample to dsd512 but with i2s the only option is dsd64 and it’s greyed out so can’t click it
Any ideas why I can’t select dsd256 or higher with i2s??
@ROSEHAN: can you please step in and enlighten us on what’s going on in our cases and if there are any steps that can be taken on behalf of Rose and/or Roon or otherwise, please?
Guys check your phase as well. I am having the same issue as you but with one additional issue. If I play Jingo by Santana the opening should be most if not all coming from the right speaker with PCM. This is how the track is supposed to sound but when playing with Native DSD set to on and either playing the track as native DSD or converted with Roon the track starts on the left speaker not the right. So the speakers become flipped, left is right and right is left. This is the case over USB and i2s. Odd. Something is going on with the DSD transport with the RS130.
Hi @Duffer5, I did test it with this song but drums start at the right both with or without oversampling
