RS150 Not importing tracks

I can connect to my QNAP NAS (SMB 1 enabled), can see the music files but somehow they are not imported although I can see them using Rose App on iPad and in Windows 10.

I can even see the tracks in the Rose touchscreen but can’t play them…

Is there something I miss ?

  1. When you play a sound source, it is added to the playlist, but does it not play?
  2. Don’t you get an error message when you play a sound source?

I use a Qnap too you’ve got to use the RS150B and scan your library files which I found was bizarre.

I struggled with this for weeks trying many different suggestions but no matter what I tried I could view all the tracks but could play none and when trying to add the share to the DB it kept failing with no tracks added. As a work around I gave up trying to use usernames and passwords to access and on the Qnap allowed, on the music share, “public” access with no password. Then on the 150B, after clearing the share from it’s memory, added the share again as a “public” user with no password and the DB started scanning successfully and I was able to play the tracks.

I tried this but the RS150 didn’t accept the user/password to access my music folder…

Hi Kiwicolin,

The guest account was enabled but by looking a bit further on why the guest access was not working I found that I had to activate another option on my QNAP TS653D (which was not needed I think on my old TS421) to actually allow root access. Standard option is ‘strict’ to only allow authenticated users…

Now let’s see how long it will take to scan my library. I’m using Roon so do not really need it but I’m testing this for a friend who also wants to buy a RS150 without Roon by simply using the app…

I also agree with comments from other users that this should be configurable through the mobile apps or Windows application…

In my case it took about two days for the RS150b to scan the contents of my NAS and allow me to perform normal operations. At the very beginning it was not even obvious that the link via SMB1 was active, then I started seeing files (but no artwork) and finally it started being possible to play tracks.

So far nothing showing up in Albums but at least I can start to play tracks (using Folders)… I have a rather large library so curious to see how long it will take. For Roon a rescan is less then 2 minutes (same for Minimserver)…

8 days later and still nothing showing up…

It depends on how many sound sources you have on the NAS, but within that period, the scan should be complete.
Rose device–>Settings–>System Settings–>How much will it show as scanned in Media Library? (If it is in progress, is it not being scanned at a specific location? ex) It doesn’t go up from 200,000 songs)
Lastly, please tell me your ROSE ID : Rose device–>Settings–>System Info–>Rose ID

Hi,

I have 3 locations on my NAS. Apparently the DB was not initiated which I just started with the hint you gave me above. Not so obvious to find out :wink: .

My Rose ID is 0813D5.

My library is slightly above 160.000 tracks.

Is there an automated rescan?

I actually use Roon but I’m testing this for a friend who would like to buy an RS150 as well but he’s not into Roon…

The scanning did finish but I still don’t see any albums to play in the app.

  1. Are all albums not appearing in Rose device–>Music–>Albums?
  2. Are all albums missing from RoseConnect app–>Music–>Albums?
  3. If all of them do not appear, can I receive one album by e-mail? (It would be even more appreciated if there was one album for each route.)

Sorry for my late reply but the music started to appear only after I forced the reload.

Do you have any plans to update the user interface in the Rose App? I showed the app to a friend and he was not impressed by it. I use Roon so not important for me but he uses the Lumin app and will stick to the Lumin…
