When touching the on /off button on the screen I can hear a relay or something clicking inside, but the screen remains black… I’ve held the button 5 seconds and nothing,
I’ve also pushed the reset button on the rear panel and nothing happens…
Is this thing dead?
I just went through this exact scenario with my RS-520. I had to send the unit to the distributor for service. They replaced my 520 and I’m back in business. Turn around was about 2 weeks.
I went through the same issue about a month ago. I actually smelled electronics burning. Returned the unit to my dealer. They sent it out for repair and it was returned to me in about three weeks. They did not give a description of what was repaired which both me and my dealer found odd. It is back and working.
I hope they exchange mine as well, it is my second unit, the first one was DOA. I’ve had this one since May and have put about 50 hours on it.
Not so happy with the reliability of these units, I guess I’m hopeful.
Interesting, I didn’t smell or hear anything that would indicate something went wrong.
I just went to turn it on one morning and it didn’t respond.
I wonder what could be so fragile in these units to allow this…
This is my second unit, first one was DOA brand new.
Same for me. I listened to mine for a few hours and everything was fine. Went out for food, came home and wanted to listen to more music. Went to power up and heard the normal relays, but screen never came on.
Dear Hi-Fi Rose users
Seems like the LCD should be replaced.
Please contact your distributor to get LCD replaced.
I don’t know if we are the only three having this issue but I will say it’s a little concerning for a unit that sells at a premium price. I had mine for approximately eight months before it failed. Ironically a couple days before it failed I was on here raving about how good it sounded. I had also just started using Rosetube after running an active HDMI cable from my 2 channel setup down to my theater room so I could watch concerts on my big screen.
I really like this unit and I hope my issue has been resolved and it becomes reliable. Sound quality is so much better than other streamers that I have.
Yeah, I would venture to guess we aren’t the only 3 out there, I’ve read some threads about people having reliability issues. It doesn’t seem to be the same issues though, it seems to be a few random issues, which is sad because I was hoping for $5K it would be a robust machine.
I love the unit and it’s superb sound quality and features, I also use Rosetube a lot, what a fantastic idea.
I’m hoping it doesn’t keep failing as I don’t know what I would buy to replace it.
I have an NAD M66 and M23 sitting here, if I had to I could go back to them as they are fantastic as well.
I originally planned to go with NAD thinking it was still in the BluOS family and it would have been seamless transition. It just wasn’t as appealing as the Rose.
Try the app on your smartphone and he start again. I had the same problem;
Only on my iPhone I could start The 150B again.
I suspect that the premium price has to do with an 80% plus markup which led every dealer to rave about the units. I am not familiar with hardware so have no idea how well they are constructed internally. I do know a thing or two about software and the software supporting the rose appears to be majorly lacking in my opinion. I wouldn’t be surprised if actual cost to produce a unit is below $500 .
I’m sure there is a significant markup, but that is probably the case for most electronics. I will say my initial impression when I pulled it out the box was that this thing is solidly built, but obviously I can’t say after my unit failed that the build quality is great. As far as the sound quality it is worthy of the praise that it receives. I’ve talked to a couple of other owners at an event at my dealer and we all felt that it was a significant upgrade from our other streamers.
Then there is Rosetube. That has been a pleasant surprise for me. I love watching concerts and to be able to find commercial free concerts on YouTube with very good sound is a huge plus.
Can’t speak on the software other than I’m getting used to how it operates. Hopefully it operates well from here on, but if it doesn’t I’ll be on here and on others forums giving my opinion of the unit as I have already done.
Raymondo,
I tried operating the unit from the app, however, it couldn’t find the unit since it wouldn’t power up.
So, no joy there.
It appears they replaced the main board to solve the issue. I hope it holds up…
Thanks…
