RS150b HDMI ARC input

Hello,
I have a Sony X800M2 blueray player with a separate HDMI audio output. I connected the HDMI2 output (audio only) to the RS150 HDMI ARC input. Unfortunately no audio playback is possible. How to set up the Rose RS150b (HDMI ARC)? The digital coaxial output works (even with SACD track) from X800 to RS150b.
Many thanks for your help.
Regards Udo

Hello,

Try to activate HDMI ARC in ‘IN/OUT Settings’ menu.

HDMI ARC is activated, but no sound. Coaxial output works.

Hello,

Is the HDMI audio output port in Sony X800M2 ‘HDMI ARC’?
If it’s not ‘HDMI ARC’, you won’t be able to hear sound as CEC control is impossible.
Please check your Sony if it says ‘HDMI ARC’. If it’s not ‘HDMI ARC’, you will have to use coaxial out.

Best Regards,

Hello Klameu,
you need a HDMI ARC Pass Switch between your devices , then it works. In Germany the device costs 70 Euro.

Dear Frank,

thank you for your advice. Which switch do you recommend?

I already have a HDMI switch (Amazon.de) to connect different devices to my TV. But I think this one doesn’t support ARC.

I want connect the Sony „HDMI audio only“ output to the ROSE HDMI ARC input.

Kind regards

Udo

Hello Udo,

ASIN: B08H8M1FGC

Kind regards

Does HDMI output got option for audio PCM or Packet audio options, if they have use PCM for stereo and Packet for Dolby or similar…

Hello @Siri

Among the HDMI output options, there is a function called PCM Resampling Frequency.
Rose device—>IN/Out Settings—>Gear in the upper left corner on HDMI—>PCM Resampling Frequency.

Thank you

Did you get this to work?. I am considering buying a Sony BluRay player (same model as you) and my understanding is that the digital audio output and the player in SACD mode into the RS 150b would fulfil the copyright requirements and would be passed through without other equipment.
Could you confirm either way and how you connected it up.
Thanks

@martynA

The HiFi Rose RS150B’s HDMI ARC input is designed solely for receiving audio from a TV or source with HDMI ARC output, and it does not support a standard HDMI output from a Blu-Ray player being connected into that ARC port.

If your Sony Blu-Ray player has a separate HDMI audio output (and not an ARC output), it may still work via digital optical or coaxial output into the RS150B, which is supported.

To fulfil your requirement of using the Blu-Ray player for SACD playback and passing the signal through the RS150B, we recommend checking:

  1. Whether the Blu-Ray’s HDMI output is truly ARC or just “HDMI Audio Only”.
  2. Alternatively use the Blu-Ray’s coaxial/optical digital output to the RS150B, which should support SACD stereo tracks in most cases.

If you like, we can provide the exact connection steps for your Sony model (please let us know the full model number).

Apologies that we cannot confirm a direct HDMI ARC-for-audio path for the Blu-Ray ↦ RS150B setup at this time — it depends very much on the player’s outputs and the RS150B’s ARC implementation.
