Rs151 – software update, yes or no?

Hi everyone,

I’ve finally decided to replace my HiFi Rose RS250A with the RS151, and I understand it should be arriving at my trusted dealer in the next few days.

After reading many of the comments here on the forum—which, to be honest, are mostly not very encouraging and in some cases quite concerning—I’d like to ask ROSELOA and ROSEHAN directly:
When I receive the new unit, should I go ahead and update the software right away, or would it be wiser to wait for the version that fixes all the known issues?

Thanks in advance—looking forward to your advice.

Regarding your question about updating the RS151 software, we recommend keeping your device updated with the latest firmware version. Each update includes important improvements, bug fixes, and new features that are designed to enhance system stability and overall performance.

While we are aware that some users have raised concerns on the forum, please rest assured that our development team continuously monitors feedback and works to address any known issues promptly. If a critical update or fix is planned, it will be included in the official firmware release notes.

We suggest updating the software upon receiving your new RS151 to ensure you benefit from the latest enhancements. Should you encounter any issues, our support team will be ready to assist you.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with the update process, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll let you know as soon as I get my RS151.

Rosehan.

I’ve had my RS151 since Saturday, August 2nd, and so far I’ve encountered two errors, which I’d like to know if they can be corrected.

  1. I play my music from a 6-terabyte USB 3 external hard drive, which worked perfectly with the RS250A. Now, the RS151 is generating a series of folders on the drive that I don’t want to have. What should I configure to prevent these folders from being generated?

2.- Interface issue when playing SACD ISO files:

In RS250A, when you played these types of files and wanted to stop, there was an arrow on the left side of the screen to go back and choose another file to play. With RS151, I no longer have that option and have to tap the ROSE icon at the top right corner of the screen, which takes me to the home menu with the main icons. How can I fix this?

Thanks.

1. Unwanted folders created on your external USB drive
The RS151 automatically creates system folders (such as .ROSE, thumbnails, etc.) when scanning and indexing media from connected storage devices. These folders are used for:

  • Album art caching
  • Playback history
  • Faster library loading

Unfortunately, these folders are required for the ROSE OS to manage your media efficiently and cannot currently be disabled via settings.
However, we’ve forwarded your request to the software team as a potential future feature — such as an option to disable media indexing or hide system folders.

2. SACD ISO interface behavior
You’re absolutely right — on the RS250A, a back arrow appeared when playing SACD ISO files, allowing easy navigation. On the RS151, the current version of Rose OS (v5.9) shows only the ROSE icon for exiting, which brings you directly back to the main home screen.

This is a known UI limitation, and we’ve already submitted this feedback to the development team. We expect this to be addressed in a future update, restoring the more intuitive in-app back navigation during SACD playback.

Again, thanks for being here. For now, my concerns were related to your answer. Later, I’ll give you the names of the folders that appear on my drive. There are two or three folders that the RS250A also created. Those aren’t the ones that bother me, it’s the others.

@JMBARG

Yes, I will wait for your further explanation.
