RS250 & external DAC?

Hi all. Has anyone partnered the 250 with an external DAC? I am interested in this streamer (even more so if it came in black) but want to retain my Auralic Vega G2 for DAC and pre-amp duty.

Yeah, me.

I use RS250 with RME ADI-2 FS DAC and it sounds great. I use Tidal and have switched off all MQA features.

I’ve downloaded Quboz for a trial and all is working well…

I’ve ditched Qobuz as the interface is poor compared to Tidal.

I’ve also ditched Roon too. I use the Rose HiFi App from my phone and all is good.

My RME ADI-2 FS DAC is NOT MQA but I’ve somehow got the MQA blue light on certain tracks - I think I befuddled it that much it’s bent to my will :grinning:

Yeah i gave both roon and qobuz the boot in favour of tidal which seems to work much better with my auralic vega g2. Virtually no dropouts at all.

Hi,
I’m waiting for the rs250, is the internal Dac not good that your using an external Dac, I was assured that it was really good, cheers

Hi, can’t comment on the 250’s dac yet. I’ll certainly give it a go but my gut feel is the Vega G2 will be better. Happy to be proven wrong😎

Hi,
I have an Auralic mini into a SMSL SU9 Dac, dealer tells me the rs250 will be a significant upgrade, their posting it on a 30 day trial to compare, hopefully it is. The os with Auralic is good, how is the rose os ?

I am using my RS250 via Toslink at my Rotel RC-1590. Much more power and details then analogue out using the RS250 DAC. Not what I expected to buy but finally a good solution.

Hi, I am a current rme adi2 owner and planning to buy a rs250. Do you think adi2 is a better dac combo for sound quality? Thanks

Yes I do, I’ve tried both and the RME ADI-2 sounded better for me…

Thanks. Better to keep my adi2.

I don’t think you can buy hi res songs from tidal though. I think only
Qobuz let’s you buy songs and download them into your internal hard drive.
