Rs250 MQA question

New to group. Recently purchased a rs250 and very pleased with it so far. I’m having issues with Tidal. When I stream am MQA album that is supposed to be played at 88.2khz or even higher it doesn’t always play proper format!!! I have checked with my bluesound node 2i and also on my Arcam Avr30 and they both play the albums at proper sampling rate. Am I missing something?? Please help.

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

  1. If you are using digital output, the output format is determined according to the ‘MQA Type’ of the input/output settings.
  • If you set ‘MQA Type’ to Authenticator, the original audio data is output bit-perfectly.
  • If you set ‘MQA Type’ to Decoder, MQA stream is output only after decoding process.( 88.2Khz or 96Khz)
  1. If you are using analog output, MQA stream is output at 176.4Khz or higher after decoding + rendering process.

The format shown on the screen is the input format of the stream.

Best regards,
Kevin

Thanks for the info. I’m using the analog outputs from the rs250. Is there a setting that I’m not doing properly? I get some albums at 192khz but mostly 44.1khz or 48.2khz… on my other mqa players they have a higher bit rate! Am I missing something. The mqa light is either green or blue. It seems to not unfold properly!

Shawn

If the MQA indicator is showing normally and you are using the analog output, you are listening to an MQA stream that is properly unfolded at a sample rate of 176.4Khz or higher.

Best regards,
Kevin

Hello again!

Thank you again for quick response. After much reading online and your response I have clearer understanding of the how the process works. I’m loving the RS250 and looking forward to the continued support and updates.
