RS250 sounds weird and compressed after software update!

Hi Rose support,

I realized RS250 sounds wierd and compressed sounding regardless it’s hi-res media files, Tidal, YouTube after the recent update :sweat::sweat:

It only sounds better after a few reboot ! Why is this so?

Hello! I noticed that Qobuz also sounds kind of dull, even in relation to the radio.

Yes, there’s definitely something wrong with RS250 after the recent software update. Hope more folks feedback here if they encounter the same issue.

  2. You said that rebooting the RS250 makes the sound better.
    Are you using an external DAC?
  3. We haven’t made any changes to the sound in recent update.
  4. Please check if symptoms appear after factory reset.
    RS250–>Settings–>System settings–>Factory reset
  5. Please describe the connection status of your RS250 in more details

On my 150b, I already noticed that the sound on Qobuz lacks high frequencies, the sound is deaf. although the radio sounds very good!

    Ans: Yes, I’ve 2 different external DAC and the problem still persists regardless using either DAC

Ans: No, I did not perform factory reset as I don’t face this issue before the recent software update.

    Ans: RS250 USB output → External DAC → Integrated amp

i have 150b. In my case, there are no messages at all, everything works well, but I feel the difference between Qobuz and radio, it has always been like that, Qobuz sounds muffled.

  1. Please check if symptoms appear after factory reset.
    RS250–>Settings–>System settings–>Factory reset
    Even if the problem occurred after the update, please do a factory reset and let me know if the symptoms appear

  2. Does the message appear even if you empty the queue of RS520?

  3. If the problem still persists, please follow the instructions below.
    Reboot after finish listening to music on RS520 → If an error message appears, enter Settings → System Settings → Click Remote Debug and enter standby mode.
    Additionally, please tell us the ROSE ID of your RS520.

What are the consequences of performing factory reset?

Will I lose my media files, configuration, Tidal account, Apple Music account?

If your Tidal account and Apple Music account are already logged in to your Rose account, even if you try to factory reset, your Tidal account and Apple Music account will be maintained if you log in with your Rose account.
If you do a factory reset, your settings will be initialized and you will need to reconnect Wi-Fi Bluetooth. The scanned files from your external hard drive or SSD will be deleted, but it won’t delete files from your SSD or external hard drive.

I don’t feel convinced to perform factory reset, the temporary solution is to reboot RS250 everytime!!
