RS250A HDMI ARC doesn’t work

Dear Hifi Rose employees and users,

I recently bought the RS250a above a RS250a due to the HDMI Arc functionality. Unfortunately I don’t get it working.

My situation is that I have an Apple 4K TV hooked up to my TV via HDMI ARC port and a HDMI cable from the TV HDMI ARC to the HDMI port on the Hifi Rose. I can select HDMI as an output in the in/out settings on the Hifi Rose but not as an input.

I hope someone know what is happening, thank you in advance!

Kind regards

@gvdl

The HDMI port on the RS250A is an HDMI output (ARC/eARC), not an input.

This means the RS250A can send audio from the RS250A to a TV via HDMI ARC, but it cannot receive audio from your TV or Apple TV into the RS250A through HDMI ARC.

If you want to play audio from your Apple TV through the RS250A, you need to connect your Apple TV directly to the RS250A using a optical input

Thank you for the quick reply. In that case I don’t know what the addition of ARC is. Normal hdmi could already send audio from the device to the tv via hdmi. ARC is audio RETURN channel right?

I think, that there is a misunderstanding.
The RS250A has only a HDMI out (primarily for showing the played metadata, videos and audio), but not ARC.

Thank you Burki. I’ve also received the same information from the importer in NL. So unfortunately has the review in the topic starter wrong information.

@gvdl

Could you please share the link to that review with me?
I’d like to check it myself.

Of course you can find it here Hifi Rose RS250A een bestaand concept is bijgewerkt

It is in Dutch but the last sentence of the intro says that the hdmi port supports ARC.

@gvdl

In the article, the RS250A is introduced while noting that one of the criticisms of the previous RS250 model was the lack of HDMI output with ARC support.

Specifically, it states:

“Een van onze kritiekpunten was de afwezigheid van een HDMI-uitgang met ondersteuning van ARC.”
(“One of our points of criticism was the absence of an HDMI output with ARC support.”)

From the context, the RS250A is presented as a model that attempts to address some of those criticisms.
However, there is no clear statement indicating that ARC support has actually been added — the article does not explicitly say “ARC is now supported.”

Yes as mentioned several times in this thread the 250A does NOT have ARC.

I love your handle.

Kind regards,
Locutus

I understand now that it doesn’t support ARC. I just wanted to point you on the review so you could rectify it with the writers so you prevent other people making the same mistake. :wink:

Because the article does say that the new rs250a supports arc. See:

Het grootste verschil is de plaatsing van een HDMI-uitgang met ondersteuning van ARC op de RS250A.

@gvdl

I have already requested a correction from the HiFi.nl editorial team.
I hope the article will be updated as soon as possible, and I also want to thank you for pointing out the incorrect information.

Thank you for checking again and your welcome!
