Hi, I’m interested in the RS250A. The manual says the remote control works with Bluetooth. However, I have a programmable remote control Logitech Harmony 650 that only sends infrared signals. Is it possible to use infrared with the RS250A ? Perhaps a limited set of instructions?
The RS250A doesn’t have an IR receicer.
What you can do, is to use FLIRC with a simple profile for player control, what I’m using for a Harmony Elite.
Hello,
Thank you for your helpfull advice. I hadn’t thought about creating a keyboard simulator yet.
Can I plug in the flirc usb into the usb3.0 port on the rear side ?
Kind regards,
Yes, you can use any usb port for the FLIRC.
Thank you very much for your reply. I have another question (the last
).
Yesterday, I looked to the flirc application. I can convert almost all the necessary functions.
However , for the on/off button is not clear for me. Can you explain how to implement the on/off button in flirc ?
kind regards,
I fear you’ll here not find a solution with FLIRC.
For me it’s not a problem, because I’m using all my four Rose devices primarily as Roon endpoints and Roon can wake up it from standby and there is also a shutdown timer (here also Rose OS has an option).
The RS250A remote control does not support IR and works only via Bluetooth.
However, if you still wish to use the RS250A with an IR-based remote, there is a possible workaround. I have forwarded this information to our technician.
When connecting a USB-IR receiver cable to the USB port on the rear of the ROSE device, the input frequency is 38 kHz. Therefore, when purchasing a USB-IR receiver cable, please make sure to choose a 38 kHz model.
Ok. I found an ir receiver for 20khz - 60khz. Or had to be specific 38 khz?
On my harmony, i could install the commandset for the rs130. Does these also work on the rs250a ?
FYI I have several of the Harmony remotes and have used them for years, but Harmony ended support for all their universal remotes last year. What that means is that, even if the Rose DID support infrared remotes, you still couldn’t program the Harmony to work with that device as their (Harmony) web site that you previously used to add and program it to work with a new device is no longer functional. You can still use the Harmony remote for devices and activities you already have programmed, but nothing new can be added or changed.
When connecting a USB-IR receiver cable, the input frequency must be exactly 38 kHz.
This applies not only to the RS250A but also to the RS130, which operates in the same way.
