RS451 - DSD Upsampling question

Hi All,

I am wanting to buy a RS451 to use a transport. Does DSD Upsampling work on USB DAC output? My DAC is a T+A DAC 200 which would benefit from DSD upsampling on the fly. I don’t like using a PC with HQPlayer to play my music. Or does the RS151 have this functionality?

If you are using an External DAC, then you’re using an analog in into the RS451 (or RS520 for that matter) So that you are going to bypass the DAC in the RS451.

The RS451 is not a transport but a streaming dac pre-amp.

What do you currently have in your equipment chain?

You can currently only set upsampling for PCM and resampling DSD to PCM, but not upsampling for DSD in the RS451.

But: I would never let the Rose device do the upsampling (the same with Lumin devices), because your DAC (not set to NOS) will do it better than the limited software upsampling in here.
For my Holo Audio May, I’m using HQPlayer in combination with Roon and the Holo Audio Red.
This makes sense (in SQ) for me, but needs,a lot of horse power…

Regarding your inquiry about DSD upsampling on the RS451 and RS151:

Currently, neither the RS451 nor the RS151 supports DSD upsampling when using USB DAC output.
While some internal processing may involve upsampling, converting and outputting as DSD to an external USB DAC is not supported.

Therefore, in the case of a DAC such as the T+A DAC 200, which can benefit from real-time DSD upsampling, this functionality cannot be achieved using ROSE devices alone at this time.

@ROSEHAN
please take more care whom (tntman has asked) you are what (you’ve written more or less the same than me) answering!
