RS451 problems after updating device version to 5.11.03

After updating from previous version (cannot advise which version was) to 5.11.03 and when I am using input as USB in.
Output switching from XLR to Headphone out.
The sound output volume of headphone is unreasonably low.
(example like while setting vol. 50/100 when normal listening, it can only output very little sound like 5/100)

It will be fixed if I reload the USB in again after setting Headphone out.

Update:
Per further check, it seems happens when XLR out → 6.35mm.
I am not sure if it happened in XLR → balanced phone out but no problem at the moment.
(This seems does not happen in RS451 input mode, only in USB input mode.)

It had never happened at previous version.

Just curious… what headphones are you driving?
Can you adjust the voltage on each output device thru the menu system?

As an experiment… do you have RCA cables out that you can try? Then switch between RCA out and the headphones (single ended to single ended vs balanced to single ended)

Headphone
FINAL D8000DC at 4-pin XLR
FINAL DX3000CL at 4.4mm balanced
Sennheiser HD490 PRO at 6.35mm

Just find that also happen when switching to 4.4mm balanced.
(Balanced end to balanced end)

I do not have RCA cables for testing single ended to single ended.

I’ve noticed some weirdness on my RS520 and USB in when I start up. If I have the USB cable plugged into my Mac, the Mac won’t recognize it until I reset the USB connection. (As if the USB connection isn’t live) [Going from sleep to live]

I’ve switched to using BT to my MB20 that comes in on the TosLink connection. Always up and ok.

Any way to switch input from USB to something else to help verify that it is the USB interface?

I think the issues may have started when they added the feature to let you adjust the voltage inputs by device. But can’t be sure.

Upon checking the issue you reported, we could not find any particular abnormalities. Could you please check the details below so we can investigate further?

  1. Please let us know the details of the source device you are using for USB IN. Additionally, please check if increasing the volume on the source device also turns up the RS451 headphone output volume.
  2. Please check if there is any volume difference when switching the OUTPUT from headphone output to another output (e.g., Analog, COAX, OPT, or USB).

Thanks for the reply.

  1. The USB in source is Windows 11 PC.
    I had tried 10+ times and there were only 2 times which will playback to normal volume after I increase the source volume. Also I have to change the volume up and down few times to trigger it.

  2. I can only confirm change back to analog output (XLR) to my active speaker is normally functioning in any modes.
    Sorry that I do not have other devices to check for the outputs.

Extra information:
I bought RS451 at mid of May.
I may or may not have updated the firmware when unboxing.
But I think I only update the firmware until this version as my friend said there are UI updates recently at his RS150B.

As mentioned, no unusual issues were found when using a Windows 11 PC, so we are following up with additional inquiries.

  1. Please let us know the software/app info you are using to play audio on your PC. Also, please check after installing the RS451 USB Driver below on your PC.

I have installed the exact version and having no problem till the update.
(FYI I have met video player software problems if I set 32-bit, 384000 Hz so I set 24-bit 192KHz and worked fine)

I am using foobar2000 to play music.

Hello,

Even after testing with the foobar2000 program, we could not find any specific issues.

If possible, could you please reset the foobar2000 settings to default and perform a factory reset on your device (RS451 > System Settings > Factory Reset), and then check if the issue persists under the default settings?

I fixed by factory reset RS451. Hope this will not happen again. Thanks for the advice.

It was not related to USB (changed several ports and check USB settings)
nor Foobar (all computer sounds affects)
