The last few weeks my Bluetooth keeps switching off.
Very annoying. Every time I have to use the code to switch it on again.
This is what happens:
In the evening I switch all current off.
In the morning all current back on. All is ok then.
But when I switch off to sleep mode and after some time on again, the bluetooth is off.
What should I do?
If you completely power off your RS520 and turn it back on, you will need to enter the PIN code again.
However, if the RS520 is in standby mode and you turn it back on, there is no need to enter the PIN code, and the Bluetooth connection will remain active.
Thanks ROSEHAN
I switch off my Audioquest Niagara 1200 power filter off every evening.
In the morning when I power on I was never asked for the code.
I have an RS520.
What is the correct procedure?
I have now pulled the power cord from the RS520 and left it a few hours.
Then I put the power cord back in and switched on.
NO question for pincode or anything else comes up.
So, what is the correct procedure?
Hello,
While I have not personally tested the AudioQuest Niagara 1200 power filter, I expect that turning it off would completely cut off the power to any connected devices.
If your RS520 is connected to the Niagara 1200, its power would be entirely disconnected when the filter is turned off. In this case, it is normal for the RS520 to request a PIN code when you turn the Niagara 1200 back on the following morning. (When you access bluetooth)
On the other hand, the expected behavior is that if you do not turn off the Niagara 1200 and instead short-press the power button on the RS520 to enter Standby Mode, you should not have to re-enter the PIN code when waking it up (provided that the PIN code was already entered before entering standby).
To assist you further, could you please provide the ROSE ID of your RS520?
(Path: RS520 > Settings > System Info > ROSE ID)
Also, I would like to know if the same issue occurs when the RS520 is connected to a different power source instead of the AudioQuest power filter.
Best regards,

The RS520 is the only one supplied by the Audioquest.
I bypassed the power filter and used the original power cord directly to the wall socket. No difference.
But now there is no Bluetooth at all.
So I suspect the Bluetooth dongle with antenna to be out of order.
BT stays active though.
My RS520 is a little over 3 years old and was the first in NL. (Oct 2022)
I will leave the 520 in sleep mode so you can look into it.
Hello,
Thank you for providing your Rose ID and for the detailed update on your troubleshooting steps.
To look into this further, could you please check the following two points?
- Powering Off Method: When you put the RS520 into Standby/Sleep mode, are you doing so by short-pressing the power button on the RS520 unit?
- USB Port Connection: The RS520 has three USB ports on the back. The BT/Wi-Fi dongle should ideally be plugged into the middle port. Could you verify if it is connected to the correct port? Also, please try unplugging the dongle and plugging it back in firmly to ensure a solid connection.
Best Regards,
Here my answers:
- last night and for the last 3 years I switch the 520 off with the button on top. Then I switch the Niagara power filter off for the night.
- The dongle has been in the center USB slot all the time. I have moved and removed it several times. Again this morning.
I noticed that the dongle was slightly warm after a night in sleep mode.
BT was still ON on the RS520. Then I did a BT search and the list filled up with BT devices nearby, such as my LG television. But no RCO connected.
The remote has new batteries and the LED flickers when a button is pushed.
Thank you for providing the detailed information.
Since other Bluetooth devices are being detected, it appears that the Bluetooth functionality of the RS520 itself is operating correctly. To resolve the pairing issue with your remote control (RCO), please follow these steps:
- Could you check if the remote is currently listed as a paired device in the Bluetooth settings? If it is, please press and hold “ROSE RCU” in the list and select Delete to remove the existing pairing.
- After deleting the previous connection, please try re-pairing the remote by following the step-by-step instructions in the video below.

Please follow the sequence carefully and let us know if the remote connects successfully after these steps.
Best regards,
Hello Roseloa,
Thanks for your answers.
I have re-installed the RCO and after some hick-ups the remote control is active again. I switched to sleep mode and complete power off. Eventually, after some trials the RCO stayed ON.
I will now observe a few days…
Hello,
Thank you for the update.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Not good!
I got the RCU working with BT.
When I leave the room I switch the RS520 to sleep without cutting the main power. When I return and switch ON the BT is off again.
A restart from complete power off shows the BT active.
Also it happened yesterday like 3 years ago that the volume went twice to full power all by itself.
Today it happened again.
Are the opamps doing this again or is there a problem with the RCU?
I am loosing confidence again.
A max volume setting would be very much desirable! To protect my expensive speakers.
Hello,
Thank you for providing the detailed feedback, although I am very sorry to hear about the ongoing issues.
Based on your description, there is a strong possibility that the Remote Control Unit (RCU) itself is defective, especially regarding the volume jumps. However, the fact that Bluetooth is inactive after waking from Sleep mode but active after a full reboot seems like a separate system-related issue.
To help our technical team pinpoint the exact cause, could you please provide a short video clip demonstrating the Bluetooth issue? Seeing the behavior in real-time will be immensely helpful in finding a swift solution for you.
You can send the video to: rose_service@citech.kr
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Best regards,
Hello Roselea,
SO I was so fed up that I did a factory re-set.
The BT does not cut out anymore. Now one day.
The volume up AND down problem is worse now.
Can you send me a new RCU please, preferably another type, because I have had this problem before.
Then it were the op-amps, but now it is definitely the RCU.
Or should I claim one from the importer or the dealer?
If the volume increases or decreases automatically when you press the volume button on the remote control, please contact the official HiFi Rose distributor in the country where you purchased your Rose device.
Kindly explain the symptoms and request a replacement remote control.
