RS520 losing BT / Airplay when switching output

Hi,

I’m a little curious why I lose my airplay/bt connection if I change my output setting?
So if I go from speakers to coax/spdif or TOSLink out… the connection is dropped.

Note this is also true if I change any of the settings.

This is a bit annoying.

The only time this doesn’t happen is when I turn on the line out to always on and w the software volume on and select a signal out value.

Any chance this will be fixed in a future release of the OS?

I would like to ask you to confirm a few things.

  1. What device is your RS520 connected to via BT or Airplay?
  2. When you change the output, you say that BT or Airplay is disconnected. Is BT or Airplay disabled on the RS520?

I am away from home right now… So going from memory…

I’ve connected from my macbook using either airplay or BT to listen to both spotify and YouTube videos.
(Also used spotify connect.)

Its when I change output selection … lets say from the speakers to the SPDIF or TOSLink, I’d lose the connection, the music will be stopped/paused.

If I was using the spotify connect, I’d have to go back into the spotify app and re-select the RS520.

@Smegel

The reason the AirPlay or Bluetooth connection is dropped when changing the output setting (e.g., from speakers to coax/SPDIF or TOSLink) is that the internal audio process must restart to properly initialize the new output path.
This behavior is currently inherent to the system design to ensure stable switching between different output modes.
